Does anyone know where/how I can get my hands on a really cheap Smokey the Bear costume? Less than 50 bucks cheap. I'm poor, but I want one. Any ideas?

Dude, you couldn't rent one for that price.

Mug a mascot?

You'd have to make it yourself. We could talk you through it, but it would take time and effort.

For a makeshift one, you could use mix-and-match pieces from a secondhand store. That is really the only way you could afford enough basic fabric to cover your body, though -- you might end up making the "fur" out of brown velour curtains, for instance.

ebay has one, but it's more money than you want to spend... plain bear costume

Maybe you could add the hat and pants to this one?

Depends on how fancy you want it to be. You could be a conceptual Smokey the bear with a pair of overalls, a shovel, a felt hat, some brown makeup, and a book of matches.

What about a cheap John Wilkes Boothe costume?

Be sure to check out the shipping on these eBay costumes -- that's what makes this much fabric often so expensive. The starting bid on this one was $49.99, but the specified required shipping would have made it a minimum of $129.00.

I don't know what would make it obviously JWB.

*shrugs* They don't make JWB costumes already?

You could probably find out, by typing "John Wilkes Boothe costume" into Google. I would be very surprised if they did, though.

I don't see anything that definitive either. http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:XecorxAPtObSoM:http://www.civilwarphotos.net/files/images/198.jpg
