Okay, several months ago I went to a workshop where one of the participants told us that you can sing three particular songs in unison. I am in charge of a camp next week and want to have the kids do this as a way of getting them up and laughing and working together. The thing is, I can only remember two of the songs.... "Give me oil in my lamp" and "When the Saints go Marching In". I can't for the life of me remember the third song. I know that I also did this once at Bible camp.
Does anyone know what the third song is?

I can think of so many songs that could fit the bill... I spent several summers at a Seventh Day Adventist day camp (we weren't SDA, but they provided a great day camp program open to the community, and we were Christian, and they welcomed everyone.) Every morning we sang praise songs, lots of them. I loved it.

That's the way I learned it. After the first verse, you start moving your right arm, then the next verse is left arm, then right foot, then left foot, then head, then tongue. The tongue gets interesting because you can't understand anyone.

In that case, the secular words go like this:

EDIT: My favourite camp song is the shark song, reversed. In the original, two kids get eaten by sharks (mama sharks, papa sharks, baby sharks, grampa sharks) while swimming in a lake. In the "reversed" version, two sharks, while riding on bikes, find a lake, go swimming and get eaten by ravenous kids (boy kids, girl kids, little kids, big kids).
I like to shock the parents .

Did you mean in Unison, or Simulataneously. In Unison would presupose that they had the same melody, all the notes are the same. If you mean Simulataneously, your choices are infinate. You just need to stay with an 8 bar cadence, and a basic two or three chord progression and everything should come out together.

I've sang "Kumbaya" at the same time as "Swing Low" and "Amazing Grace" and if you start them at the right times they sound great together.

Me too! We did it at chapel services at my elementary school, at which my dad was pastor. Neato.

I meant simultaneously. The three songs overlay very nicely and fit together incredibly well. It might be Kum Ba Ya. I know that it isn't This Little Light of Mine... we kept trying that but it doesn't fit. Dragon... I might try your suggestion instead. Thanks all!

"Peace Like a River"-- with hand motions. (You know, "I've got peace like a river, I've got peace like a river, I've got peace like a river in my soul..." If you need words and/or a midi file, I can send them to you.)
"Deep and Wide"-- and then you replace the words with sounds, one at a time. (I can find that midi for you and send you those words, too.)
"His Banner Over Me is Love"-- also has hand motions. (Ditto.)

Thanks, kq! When I was younger I loved "Praise Ye the Lord".
I'm really psyched about camp starting tomorrow. Even more psyched now that we found someone who will let us borrow a guitar book for the praise and worship songs that the kids really like. We had minor meltdown this morning when we found out that the sister who usually loans them to us for camp had loaned them out somewhere else.

Ok, I remembered singing the trio of Saints, Sing, and Swing, so I was sure I had your answer (Give me Oil wasn't in there for me). Then I remembered a fourth song thrown into the trio, and I haven't heard it mentioned here yet, so it's a possibility, right?

Thanks to all who offered suggestions! The camp was great and the kids had tons of fun. We used just about every song that got mentioned here as it started raining and we had to move all of activities into a VERY small area and singing was just about all we could do.
