Hi, and welcome to hatrack Tomas.

Interesting spelling for Tomas. Are you by chance a Swede?

Regardless, welcome to the 'Rack!

Tell us a little about yourself, Tomas.

I'm an old married lady from New Jersey, yet manage to be awesome cool nonetheless.

Lyr, Tomas is a common spelling in much of Europe-- it's also the Irish spelling, for instance.

Welcome, Tomas!

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Ah, didn't know that.

I'll admit, my only exposure to the "Tomas" spelling is Tomas Holmstrom, a Detroit Red Wing (hockey). And he's Swedish, so I just sort of figured it was native to that country or Scandinavia alone.

We learn something new everyday. [Smile]

All the Tomas's I know are Hispanic.

And by "all the Tomas's", I mean the one Tomas who goes to my school.

Welcome, Tomas! I'm pronouncing it as though it's in Spanish. Is that close?

Tell us something about yourself.

Is he a new form of spam?

Yes. Google his screenname. This isn't the only forum he posted this thread on.

Not so new. I was pretty sure he was spam from the beginning. If the thread doesn't get shut down, "he"
will probably be back to post in it again. If it does, he'll just start another thread.

My goodness he's been busy the last few days.

*clears throat*

*acoustic guitar fingerpicking, a delicate set of arpeggios*

*pickups start to feed back*

*and... POWER CHORDS*

I'm carrying the wheel.
Thanks for all you've shown us.
This is how we feel.
Come sit next to me.
Pour yourself some tea.
Just like Grandma made
When we couldn't find sleep.
Things were better then.
Once but never again.
We've all left the den.
Let me tell you 'bout it.

Choo-choo train left right on time.
A ticket costs only your mind.
The driver said, "Hey, man, we go all the way."
Of course we were willing to paaaaaaay!

Yeah, this is definitely a spam bot. I've seen a bunch of these on my forum. I have no idea what their aim is except to spam.

The thread title and content are all exactly the same as the ones I've seen, except for the name.

Dang, and I was hoping for an explanation of his screen name. [Frown]

Well, shoot. I was hoping for better from our new friend.

Ahem. On a different topic, why does all spam I've seen seem to use bad grammar?

Is there some sort of holy spam city out there where the spam is clean, cogent, worded with proper subject-verb agreement, and peppered with just exactly appropriate punctuation?

And what's with the exclamation marks? Are spammers all plugged into the wall sockets, or something?

Posted by Qaz (Member # 10298) on :

Hi!!!! My name is Qaz!!!! I have nice spam for you -- send me credit card!!!!!

(Actually I think it is cool that they are so predictable and boring. Think how annoying it would be if you got interested in a post and then it ended up explaining how v!@gra is just what you need!)

I believe what you are looking for can be found in any reputable newspaper's advertisement section.

Also if you eat canned spam you will find it never yells at you, it just makes your taste buds cry out in happiness.

And if you think of Brick, for instance, and you say to Brick, "What do you want, Brick?"

And Brick says to you, "I like an Arch."

And if you say to Brick, "Look, arches are expensive, and I can use a concrete lentil over you. What do you think of that? ... Brick?"

Brick says:

"... I like an Arch"
