The princesses and I are going out to visit Boon in a few weeks (We'll get there on the 18th, are leaving on the 25th.) So if anyone wants to get together in Tulsa at some point with me, Boon, and our kids (there'll be five kids in total, just to give fair warning [Big Grin] ) any time between the 19th and the 24th is fair game. I talked to Boon and she says that we are going to do the aquarium and the zoo, and she would prefer not to do either of those on Saturday (21st is the Sat. we will be there), and of course I will be going to church with the girls and we don't do anything that causes anyone to work for pay on Sunday, and we are going to be on a pretty strict budget, but other than that we're free any time for anything at this point. [Smile]

So whoever wants to see Boon and me, here's your chance!

I should be able to meet on the 19th or 20th. There is a slight chance I will have to go to DC that week. I'll let you know as the date gets closer.

Okay. When you know we'll need to e-mail so you can have my cell number and such. [Smile]

Tulsa is where Weird Al's move UHF was filmed.

And The Outsiders

*thinks it is more important that Tulsa is where Boon lives* [Razz]

What am I, chopped liver?

I dreamt last night that this had become a really divisive thread, with extemely bitter argument ripping it apart. Before I had the dream I'd only been peripherally aware (consciously, of course) that this thread even existed.

I never saw The Outsiders, but I loved the book as a kid.

Hmph Ketchup, at first I saw the thread and thought; Hatrack party with a bunch of smart, cute, hatrack chicks... But you're a church-going mom with 5 kids and a husband.

Not to say you're none of the above, but humph all the same.

It has a bunch of Tulsa landmarks. There's not a whole lot that goes on in T-town, so we take them where we can. Here is a neat site showing some of the sites from the movie.

Here is the one from UHF. Not near as much info.

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

Huh. I didn't realize that the book takes place in Tulsa as well. Which isn't surprising, as I didn't live in Oklahoma yet when I read it, so Tulsa didn't mean anything to me.

Yeah, my dad grew up in the poor West side. He was a teen in the mid sixties though. Things were a little different.

*peals of laughter*

Oh, no. Only two of the kids are mine! Three are Boon's. [Razz]

And we'd still love to meetcha, even if you're on the prowl. We'll pat your head and give you cookies or something.

While you are definitely not chopped liver (or I would not consent to meet you, I am not a liver fan [Razz] ), neither are you one of my bestest friends in the whole wide world whom I have not seen in almost two years. [Big Grin] Nor are you the reason I am going to Tulsa-- Boon is. You're just a very nice extra. [Wink]

Ketchup; completely off topic but I need advice.

A friend of mine here in teh DC area works at an AMC theater (Near VA Arlington) and told me I should come by before fly out tomorrow morning.

He's working till eleven and will let me watch movies and eat etc.. for free, but I cant find the bloody theater, nor can I find directions to it. All I know is that it's one of the only locations near a DC metro line & it's really big.

I tried cold calling about 7 places and no luck (No Derek Young at this location, n owe don't have imax or no we're not by the metro).

I'm frustrated and out of ideas, all my googling skills have led me nowhere.

You don't have this friend's phone no.?

It's not the Union Station AMC theater?

Posted by brojack17 (Member # 9189) on :

Union Station is the one I was thinking of.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Yes, the wonders of Google maps. [Wink]

Posted by Desu (Member # 5941) on :

Yeah but gmaps doesnt show the metro's & his phone is off at work. Thanks for the Union Station Metro tip though gonna do some intensive googling!

Posted by Desu (Member # 5941) on :

Bahhh Union station is in DC his place is in VA next to a DC metro that goes out to VA, anyways thanks for the help I appreciate the effort.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Well, if I were to think of one site that's likely to be described as "near the Metro", something named "Union Station" would be it.

And if you click on "satellite" and zoom in close enough, you can actually make out the Metro.

This damn laptop carshes on everything apart from forums... Its a toshiba with win 98 256SRAM and some bad graph card and mobile processor.

It's a dinosaur, which makes it extremly virus resistant; too low tech:P

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Well, the Courthouse Plaza 8 is the only one that actually shows up in Arlington. The others near Arlington are in other communities. So I'd try that first if you're looking for Arlington.

Hey thanks KQ [Big Grin]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

No problem. [Smile]

Still wondering if anyone wants to get together; only 9 days until we leave! If you don't have my cell number by then I'll be unreachable for the duration...

Posted by Tstorm (Member # 1871) on :

Sorry, it's within driving distance, but I'm already committed that weekend. In fact, this weekend was committed back in March...darned committments.

Enjoy the aquarium and zoo!

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I've still recieved no e-mails. (And Tstorm, we weren't really interested in the weekend so much. [Wink] )

If anyone is actually free, or might be, post it here or e-mail me, I leave in less than a week and if you don't have my cell you won't be able to get ahold of me. [Smile]

Running out of days to see us both here... [Wink]

Sorry I could not make it. I have had a bunch of marathon conference calls. I'm in Houston this week and the marathon meetings will be face to face.

I'm so tired of sitting through meetings.

Hopefully next time I'll be able to meet.
