Mass Effect is a new RPG game coming out during the holidays. When first hearing of it, I passed it over for a generic Sci-Fi RPG. I should have known better, coming from Bio-Ware.

Although I have yet to do all my research about this game's stand out features, this caught my attention and continues to hold it. This brief interactive talking scene alone makes me want to play this game. It's so fluid and flawless in character movement and speech that I could have mistaken it for a prerendered Sci-Fi TV show along the likes of something Star Treky.

Wow, that was really impressive. I wonder how much of that animation is procedural and how much is done by hand. It would be incredibly great if they had something like that in a format that is easy to mod.

Although I haven't really followed it, I've heard some good things about this game. Bioware really hasn't had anything all that great since the Baldur's Gate series ended (well, also KOTOR to a lesser extent). From what I've seen so far, though, this game could definitely be among the best games they've done.

Oh darn, it appears to be a 360 exclusive. I suppose that rules out mods, then. Well then, it looks like I'll have to get a 360 eventually. If this game even remotely lives up to its hype it will definitely be a system seller for me.

I think all of Bioware's RPG line-up has ended up on PC sooner or later; hopefully, this won't be the exception. Looks gorgeous.

Here's a somewhat higher-quality version of the same video.

I've been following Mass Effect since last year's E3 and am really looking forward to playing it in November. Apparently the game is done at this point and they're optimizing and debugging and whatnot in the extra time they've got -- I assume they're carefully avoiding conflict with the Halo 3 release in late September.

Added: Also, here is an extended version of the E3 2007 trailer.

I too am waiting for Mass Effect with an anticipation which was matched probably only by Oblivion. I have actually reached the point where I've cut myself off from reading anything further about it or watching any more trailers, because I'm getting addicted like I did with Oblivion info before it came out.

I just hope it will live up to at least half of the hype.
