Are there any jatraqueros on Last.fm?

If so, come friend me...my username is Avadaru. I'm curious to see what y'all are listening to!

(Sorry if there has already been a topic on this - I searched and didn't find one.)

I've been using it off and on for about three years, starting back when it was Audioscrobbler. For me it's great as a record/history of my musical tastes, and to a lesser extent it's decent for a bit of networking and recommendations.

There's also a Jatraqueros group that got started way back in 2004.

Wow, they have a huge database and a lot of artists that most sites don't have.

I'm cracking up as Emma tries to do Irish step-dancing. [ROFL]

So, anyone have any insight as to how to just add artists as ones you like to influence the music played, or do I just have to do it progressively by listenin'n'lovin?

I'm not sure how it's done these days. There used to be a recommendations section that generated after you had a certain amount of listens or songs. Now there's the Recommendations radio station, which I assume is generated in the same way, based on what you've listened to, and continually updating based on your tastes.

I don't think there's a way for you to actually add artists to the radio station. In a roundabout fashion you can go to an artist's last.fm page, see the similar artists, then go to their pages and listen to the available songs...

Personally, I rarely use the radio station thing. I've never really been blown away by any of their suggestions.

I also just noticed that there are similar artist radio stations on every artist page.

Really? Thusfar, I'm very impressed. Thusfar, it's blown Pandora's suggestions out of the water, and that's saying a lot.

And their index of events gets better and better each month.

I would love to be on Last.fm, but I can't get it to work with my work computer (combination of firewall and other settings as far as I can tell). And my home computer is too old to run it.

The frustrating thing is that I could have easily installed it on my work computer at my old job, but wasn't supposed to listen to music at work. I can listen to music at my new job, but can't install it.

Woe is me.

Last.fm has always given me really bad suggestions. Pandora's giving me better suggestions now, but it's taken a while to train it. I've always liked Launch, but I can't listen to it on my Mac at work.
