I'm supposed to make a photo directory, and was wondering if anybody had any idea on how I could go about doing it. I need about 25 people per page (these will be small photos) along with their names and phone numbers.

Is there any good, free software out there that would assist me with this? Or would somebody have a good method for doing it inside of a word processor or whatever?

Box.net has free online storage. It allows for multiple users to log in, create folders, dump images, etc.

Sounds like it might be up your alley. Our little artist group uses it to dump various reference images into it for communal use.

Create a Yahoo Group and use the photo directory feature on the group. Totally free, AFAIK.

Don't do this with a word processor, it will just not show up in a web browser how it looks in the word processor (especially true for MS Word)

You could try a tool like this: http://www.ornj.net/webalbum/

If you have Photoshop (even the "Elements" version), there's a pretty good web thumbnail gallery feature built in that you might be able to edit with a WYSIWYG html editor to add the name/address information.

Oh, well actually I won't be hosting this online. It needs to be a physical, printed copy.

I'd create a 5 by 5 table in Word and put each picture and name in it.

If you have access to it, check out Indesign. It is an excellent page layout program. Word would also work, though making it do page layout can be painful. Make sure you print a test version before you get too far into tweaking the Word layout, you might find it doesn't reproduce quite as you anticipated.

If this will be reprinted later, create a PDF of it when you have it tweaked like you like.
