Okay...I judged it too quickly. I'll give it a chance.

I don't care how dumb it might be, I'll watch it just for Zooey Deschanel. *swoon*

I don't think Zooey has it in her to be anything but completely appealing and lovable.

It's a great cast. But the synopsis still sounds agonizingly bad.

That "Dorothy and the Witch are implied to be long-lost twins" thing is the fly in the ointment.
That and it's a %$^*&()_ SciFi Channel mini-series adaptation of a beloved fantasy novel. Have those ever turned out well?
Still, great cast...and I kinda like the -look- of things in the videos.
We'll see.

I haven't watched any of the preview videos, but will the Tin Man be slinging blue steel with sandalwood grips?
Posted by Puffy Treat (Member # 7210) on :
They haven't shown. Yet.

Please let them have a good script. The actors could make this fantastic if they have anything to work with.

One can only hope. The odd SciFi Channel mini-series doesn't suck.

I thought the two Dune miniseries were decent, the second one better than the first. I guess thats not really fantasy though.

Well, can't speak for the mini-series, but it seems like writers and directors of SciFi Channel movies have contracts that require them to "make a movie that sucks."

Yeah, I quite enjoy "Who Wants to Be a Superhero", partly 'cause it's so cheesy, but I have NO desire to watch a movie with the "Superheroes" in it.
[/totally irrelevant derail]

Oh, yeah. Once I was up late at night with insomnia, ended up watching parts of a made-for-SciFi movie that was a blatant Jurassic Park ripoff (only with Sabretooth Tigers). The other was a weird horror thing about a vampire clown kid who sucks blood out of his babysitter's armpit.
