I hate when this happens. Every now and then, a whole clump of people start dying. It's weird.

I got back from a vacation with my family last Friday, and ran into a friend that afternoon at the grocery store. He told us that a friend of ours had passed away. And that his mother wasn't doing very well. She died Sunday morning, I think. And a guy I used to go to synagogue with passed away today.

I just hope the clump is over.

Low-frequency Poisson-distributed events are quite likely to appear in clumps. It's a rather counter-intuitive result, though.

My friend said once that people always die in three's.

I would hope your friend said that people always die in threes.

*mental note to self, stay away from three's*

No doubt! Three is always serving me questionable seafood, I dread my weekly visits to his house.

Hey, I like Three! We hang out on the weekends.

Lisa,
Hang in there. Also, the idea of "death season" or "clumps" probably isn't the best way to look at things. It depresses me just thinking about it. I suggest you try to let go of those kinds of ideas and adopt something a little more optimistic.

On a lighter note, the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the thread title was "Duck season! Fire!" [Smile]

And superfluous apostrophe's.

Rather than thinking that people die in threes, I like to think that they tend to be alive in clumps of 6 billion or so.

Wabbit Season! [Mad]

My sympathies Lisa. It always seems to go that way for me too, and usually around January/February time.

It's August for me. Every year I hope the trend won't continue, but tragedy seems to have a thing for the end of the summer.

I do like Mighty Cow's view however.

Oh...sorry. [Roll Eyes] [Smile]
