It's great.

I'm scared of large guys encased in scuba gear, and carrying large harpoons and/or diamond excavators.

It's 2:30AM...will I able to sleep?

Yeah, it's just a game. [Sleep]

Who is we?

Vader impersonators?

Although to be fair that'd probably be something more like:

I bought the Limited Edition on launch day (first time I've ever done that), and finished my first playthrough on medium rescuing all of the Little Sisters on Sunday. Fantastic game, definitely a very strong Game of the Year candidate. I'm looking forward to coming back to it later to play through again on hard, harvesting the Little Sisters this time.

I only had pretty much one minor quibble, which was with the cost/benefit of rescuing/harvesting, but I'll save that for when others have finished the game as well.

Also, the developers have made the full soundtrack available on the Cult of Rapture website, and there's some awesome stuff on it. Notably, a solo piano piece in the style of Rachmaninov from the Fort Frolic level. [Big Grin]

Agh.

I played the demo and was quite impressed (and confirmed that my computer will actually run the beast.) But I can't justify buying it right now because I'm leaving the country for six months in a little over two weeks, and I'm going to be stuck with just my laptop (which definitely wouldn't be able to handle Bioshock.)

I guess I can hope it will have gone down in price by the time I get back.

I really loved the "spiritual predecessor" to Bioshock, System Shock 2 so I was dying to get this game.

As father of 6, I haven't been able to get a lot of time playing it, but I love it. I used the lunar eclipse as an excuse to stay up all night playing Bioshock. Very engrossing (and scary) game.

I think I have the same quibble as twinky about the cost/benefit issue.

I haven't finished it yet, no spoilers! There was a big daddy around, but I'm low on ammo. The last one I tried to kill I shot 35 bucks into it while running around a pillar shooting lighting and going "JESUS" every time he charged...

I've had luck unloading all of my frag grenades, followed by machine gun fire until he's dead. I'm still fairly early in the game - I think I've freed 7 little sisters so far.

The first big daddy is the worst as you don't have a lot of plasmids, tonics, or weapons at that point. I just continually fired my machine gun at him and kept using first aid kits while he pummeled me.

You're not supposed to fight too many big daddys. You're supposed to distract them, avoid them and manipulate them.

If you read Ars Technica, my quibble and analysis got a mention in their gaming journal today. (Don't follow the link if you don't want the ADAM formula spoiled.)

I had a really hard time in Neptune's Landing, since I wound up having to kill some 7 Big Daddies to rescue all of the Little Sisters -- some of those without even having the Enrage plasmid.

I'd thought you had to kill them to be able to harvest/free a little sister. Are you able to get to the little sisters just by distracting the big daddies?

Yep. Same quibble.

Naw, man -- the attending Big Daddy's got to be dead to harvest a Sister. There is always a Daddy sent out to attend a Sister, and a Sister without an attending Daddy will cry by the corpse for a minute and then skitter off if there's no collector (i.e., you) nearby.

So if you kill a Daddy, make sure the Sister is there, or another Daddy is dispatched to be with the Sister for when she returns, and you're essentially back at square one, minus a good quantity of supplies and anti-armor ammo.

All in all I've found three significant issues with the game but I won't discuss them here until the game is primarily in the King Kong land of spoilerdom.

No, they have to die. But you don't necessarily have to kill them directly...

Ah. Well, at least at medium difficulty it's not too hard to take them on directly once you've got some ammo and a few upgrades.

I don't own a PC or XBOX 360. But I thought this game looked really cool.

I do own a PC, but I'm afraid to install it, run it, and have my computer spontaneously burst in to flames.
