Luciano Pavarotti, whose vibrant high C's and ebullient showmanship made him the most beloved and celebrated tenor since Caruso and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar, died Thursday. He was 71.

He lived a full and vibrant life. I certainly appreciate his contribution, I'll give him a listen on my ipod at work.

I didn't realize that celebrities have this contract where, if they die, someone is legally obligated to point out what a jerk they actually were. Good to know.

I was lucky enough to see two of his concerts. One was with Domingo. He was one of the great musicians of our time. He will be missed.

Though I am not a fan of opera, I really enjoyed hearing Pavarotti sing. His beautiful voice will be missed.
