I understand the need to pay for the forums, and that's fine, but I just HATE the flashing ads. They make it impossible to read anything on the page.

It's flashing at me. [Frown] I hate it.

I definitely preferred the ad when it was located at the bottom of the screen, but at least this placement to the right of the content is easier to deal with than it was when they had it on the left for a few minutes.

It's horribly distracting and it looks really cluttered.

Agreed.

I wish it was one I could block with the Mozilla Adblock app. Grrrr...

It seems to be back at the bottom now...

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

And it's back on the bottom!

Maybe it got loose before and that was it running around the forum.

Wow, now I'm all freaked out.

Do you think the ads listen to us!? [Angst]

Ads, you are disgusting and despicable and should all go away forever!

*Looks around hopefully*

Ad? What Ad? The only ad I see is at the top where is say Support Hatrack by buying from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Booksense. Is is very small and certainly not blinking.

Maybe my Ad Blocker is working, I use Mozilla Seamonkey v1.1.2.

Am I missing something?

And for the record, and in general, I find flashing blinking Ads INCREDIBLY annoying. That REALLY REALLY will NOT make me want to buy your product. More likely it will make me want to reach through the screen and grab you by the throat.

I didn't see the ads either—I just saw that they squished the forum over to the left, which was annoying.

I'm running Mozilla Camino.
I have never seen an ad on hatrack.

I have adblocker in my Mozilla and I don't see any ads.

I just installed these add-ons for Firefox and and it seems to have gotten rid of the ads:

Using Opera here and have never seen ads on Hatrack (except for the Amazon thing at the top)

(and I haven't even enabled ad blocking! [Big Grin] )

All in vain, I've got the Top-Secret Gateway to Hell ad.

The los alamos physicists are top secret -- that's why they are featured in banner ads on the internet.

I was wondering why I didn't see any of these ads, I guess I already have those mozilla ad-ons. I just upgraded a couple days ago.
