OK, so i used to be fairly fluent in German and worked for the German program for Concordia College. It's been a long while since I've used any of that and I would love to find some online buddies to chat with 'auf Deutsch.' Anyone who speaks German want to add me to their Buddy List? Are there other places I can look to find people like this?

I made it through two years of high school German and have forgotten most of it, but my Rosetta Stone software just arrived today and I'm going to be working hard on it.

I hate chat, though. Maybe we could have a thread?

If you guys are willing to deal with a complete beginner, I would love to sit in on your German discussions. My boyfriend is from Germany and there is a chance I may be moving there someday. I would really like to learn, but I'm afraid I'm too much of an audio learner to be able to do Rosetta, but I am going to give it a try.

dkw, will you let me know how it is?

those audio language programs are that helpful. honestly, the best thing is just talking with someone who is fluent. your boyfriend should just teach you.

I took two very intense years at college, so I know all the basic grammar, but my vocabulary leaves a lot to be desired. I'm losing some of what I knew, though, so I'm very much interested.

landybraine, audio learners should do fine with Rosetta. Everything is both spoken and written.

I got through year 8-11 German (and passed a number of the language competency exams) but I've managed to forget almost all of it.

Ich gehe fast nie auf AIM, aber, wenn du willst, kanst du mich vielleicht da finden. Meine Name da ist 'Jhaikkinna.' Fuenf Jahre vor (mein Gott - bereits fuenf!) war ich in Deutschland fuer neun Monate als AuPair Maedchen.

Auch gibt es ein super Englisch-Deutsch Woerterbuch online hier.

Genau Kama!!

In mittel achtzigger Jahre, wohnte ich in Oesterreich. Seit die letzen 6 jahre, arbeite ich Sommers in Muenster Deutschland. Fuer mich, Deutsch schreiben is schwieriger also Deutsch sprechen so dieses wird gute Ubung sein.

normalerweise ist mein Vokabular/Grammatik nicht gut genug fuer etwas hier. Ein kleines Gespraech auf AIM manchmal wahrend des Tages finde ich viel leichter. Meine Name fuer AIM ist 'waldseekrf.' Er ist eigentlich die Name des Dorfs dass ich gearbeitet in habe, mit meiner Initialen (sp?) am Ende.

EDIT: ok i referred to my screen name as Er, because im a guy, but 'Name' takes 'die.' So... which pronoun should i have used there. man, grammar used to be my specialty. i really miss how far ive regressed with my german.

Ich bin noch nie nach Deutschland geflogen. Ich lese Deutsch ziemlich gut, und manchmal verstehe ich gesprochenden (?) Deutsch, aber ich schreibe Deutsch nicht so gut. Ich fergesse die Artiklen.

Hat jemand Hilfe mit dass?
