Anybody see this mystery/thriller competently directed by Ben Affleck?
I caught it Saturday night and highly enjoyed it. The cast is pretty good--though it's apparent that Casey Affleck wouldn't have gotten the part if it wasn't his older brother directing. I mean, he isn't awful, but he isn't amazing either, especially when surrounded by actors like Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman. Best acting in the film though is done by Amy Ryan as the mother whose child is stolen. Previously I only knew Miss Ryan from her role as Officer Beadie Russel in "The Wire" but imdb reaveals she's done far more than that. She deserves at least an actor nomination for this performance.
The film gets overly disturbing in one instance, but overall it's a gripping thriller. I may never have to read Dennis Lehane novels if they keep making movies this good out of them.
