First, is everyone from CA ok? Anybody now Hatracking from an undisclosed location to avoid the flames? My best wishes and prayers to all of you fire fighting civilians!

However I just heard some interesting comments made about the rash of Dangerous and Destructive wildfires made by some of our most powerful politicians: (OK, so I made them up.)

President Bush: As we all know, Alqueda in Iraq is largely responsible for the fires in California...

Vice President Cheney: Though the matches they used to light the fires, we have on hard, but secret reports that I can not let you verify, came directly from Iran.

Guiliani: If I were President, I'd treat those fires just like I treated 9/11. I was great on 9/11.

Ms. Hillary Clinton: You know, (laughs) we need to get our soldiers home so they can go back to doing what the national guard has always done--fight forest fires. My national Fire Fighter program would insure that everyone had fire insurance.

Edwards: Um, didn't I have a national fire insurance program first? Hello? Anyone listening?

Obama: We all know that I was for National Fire Insurance long before any of these folks like Ms. Clinton jumped on the Fire Insurance Bandwagon. I mean, I have years of experience with fires and insurance and, I look better behind a podium than she does.

McClain: I don't think the issue is who started the fires, or who has insurance for the fires. I beleive that the issue is making sure our fire fighters get all the support they need to put the fires out. That is why I'm sponsoring a non-binding resolution in congress to show our support to all the hard working fire fighters who are willing to vote.

Romney: Fire is something I took care of in Massachue..Massasche...my state. I have experience putting out fires and ....

Fred Thompson: Hey! There goes the set to three of my movies where I got to play a president. Don't let me be homeless. Let me play a president in a building that hasn't burned down since 1812.

Heh. I assume Obama would say, "Too bad our troops are too busy air-raiding villages and killing civilians to help out with the fires."

Oh, and Glenn Beck is no pol and this is a real quote. It really made me gag.
quote:
We come back to the center of the melting pot, that we're all one America, that just because I disagree with you doesn't mean you hate America, and I love America. We all love America. We just disagree on how we should function, what we should do, big government, small government. It doesn't mean you hate America. I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today.

How could anyone say "We all love America" then at the end of the same paragraph say "there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today."?

I don't even think that's true anymore. Republicans don't stand for government staying out of your life and being small, and Democrats don't stand for huge government that controls everything you do.

I think at the very least that has balanced out, if not flipped the other way entirely.

Hillary Clinton's title is Senator Clinton, not Ms. Clinton. When you refer to all the men by their last names only, you should do so for the woman as well. I can understand if you wanted to distinguish her from her husband, although in a list of current presidential canidates I don't think that's necessary since he isn't one, but at least do so with her proper title.

Great, these are funny!

Governor Schwarzenegger: With the help of the Federal Government, we will terminate these fires for all Californians.
