Holy cow, have you guys been watching the BSG Razor flashbacks of the First Cylon War?
And they use the Cylon ships from the original series!!

Check out the desperate defence of one of the Colony Worlds.

I'm really weirded out by the young Adama. His eyes, particularly in the viper scenes, remind me of LaForge's fake eyes that replaced his visor.

Crap. I haven't bothered finishing season 3 yet. I'd better get on it, eh?

Yes. Yes I have been watching.

The Cylon models from the original series. Squee.

Also. The space battle porn was amazing in that scene. I wish I could see more.

In part four, did you notice how young Adama kicked that cylon's butt in a way somewhat similar to how he killed Leobon in the miniseries?

At least, it reminded me of it. Same kind of fight. No wonder he did so well against Leobon, neh?

These flashbacks are very well done and are actually getting me excited for BSG after I'd lost a lot of interest.

Seriously, though, April? What is that?

At least the flashbacks are sweet.

I like the guy who plays young Adama. He's been given some really crappy lines by the writers, but his performance is good. He's got Old Bill's voice down perfectly. Now we know why they called him "Husker"- he's had that distinctive soft, hoarse voice since he was a rook!

I never watched the original BSG (nor do I ever plan to), but it still gave me a pleasant jolt to see the old ships and centurions. They had a hint of this all the way back in the miniseries, and it's awesome, and more than a little hilarious, to see them take the idea and run with it. The space battle between old-school battlestars and old-school basestars/ Raiders is freakin' superb.

Mmmm... by the looks of it, it is not a Colony but a Cylon world that our military is attacking...

And that base on the surface definatly looks Cylon-starfishy. Probably one of the places where they are working at evolving themselves I betcha.

"Our military."

Ha!

I love it when we do that.

The reviewer on televisionwithoutpity.com does the same.

They're human, yes, but why equate them with us?

I do it too. I think of them as "us." I suppose because this show is so good, it's easy to mentally put yourself there, and think of the RTF, or in this case the humans in general, as our people, or us as part of them. It's interesting to see that kind of phrasology, and I see it from others too, and it's fun to see.

Heheh, yeah I love that too Megabyte.

Anyway, the last installment of the webisodes is tonight. [Smile]

Wow. Neat.
Makes me wonder HOW the peace treaty was signed.
Which Cylon model(s) met the Human ambassadors?

Did they have skinjobs yet?

Spoiler

Adama found the research center for the skinjobs at the end of the shorts; Had they completed the R&D on them yet?

Posted by Telperion the Silver (Member # 6074) on :

I assume that was what was contained in the prototype starfish-basestar...

Posted by calaban (Member # 2516) on :

Absolutely, I was just wondering if they were advanced enough in the research to use a skinjob in the negotiations or if they merely used a original model toaster as their interface.

Oh no. I wouldn't think so, since the Colonials had no idea that they looked human leading up to the genocide: the ambassador during the pilot didn't have files on that and was REALLY shocked to see #6 for one, and of course they knew nothing of the years of spying leading up to the attack.

I think it might be cool to see one of the humlon models with the glittering brains.

Has anyone tried the demo for Beyond the Red Line yet?

My joystick is so old it wont work with my comp so I havent gotten to bite into it.

It looks pretty smooth though.

BtRL is pretty, but suffered from control issues (and still does, as far as I know). BSG's ships have very high turn rates and acceleration, so it's very hard to be precise with a joystick -- and FS2's mouse support was never all that great.

I haven't tried it, but it's gotten pretty disappointing reviews.

I really don't like sims without a joystick so I finally snagged one yesterday to try it out.

It wouldn't work with the default setting for the logitech I purchased, so I had to switch to a default windows setting in the game launcher. After that I felt the attitude control responsiveness was fine, although the roll mapped to the joystick was a little too touchy. I will probably repmap that to a keyboard function. The lateral and vertical thrusters are also lots of fun, it also incorperates an option to cut thrust all together and coast so that you can pull off some of the reverse maneuvers that you see in the series. ALot of the physics have to be simulated becasue the engine is so dated, but considering that this is a free project being done by fans in thier freetime, I'm not complaining.

Consider that I grew up on xwing so space combat sims have a fair amount of nostalgia for me. Also my favorite games are the descent series; consider that when I say that even though I wasnt able to play it much longer than an hour, I thoroughly enjoyed the demo and think it's a quite promising start.

A free project being done by fans? So this is not the same thing as this?

I think that's different, BtRL has a demo but has not yet been released. http://www.game-warden.com/bsg/about.html
