I saw this last night. Wonderful. See it if you can.

Does it include a child rape scene, like the book did? That part freaked me out.

It is central to the story so yes, but it is implied rather than graphically shown. You know what is going to happen, but don't actually see it.

Aw, man I want to see it bad. But it got pushed back for 6 weeks for some reason.
But the book was awesome!

Cassv, the first sentence of your response looked really questionable right after kmbboots' post. Fortunately you added an explanation

According to New York Times, the reason why the movie release date was delayed is because they were trying to get the child actors out of Kabul. See link:
Has anyone read "A Thousand Splendid Suns"? I thought it was just as amazing as the "Kite Runner".

I did. Great read. Nice to see you posting again, Leila.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that till now. You're right that looks awful.

Ahhh <wiping a tear>... somebody still remembers me! Thanks Toad! I've been a bit busy lately and haven't been here in awhile.
I'm glad you liked "A Thousand Splendid Suns". As a girl, I could relate to it more than "Kite Runner". Not to mention the main character with the same name as mine.

I'm not a girl, but I actually enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns more than Kite Runner.

Really? That's interesting, in a good way. I thought Khaled Hosseini did an amzing job of creating the characters and showcasing their emotions. I felt like I understood Mariam and Laila on so many levels, crying and laughing with them. I also like the fact that his stories FEEL real. There are no fake "happily ever afters" or unrealistic expectations. His tales are heartbreaking, but SO real. Sign of a good writer in my book.
