Ready to get in on the ground floor for some serious early '90s nostalgia? Here you go.

I've posted once or twice about Rifftrax, which is a MST3K-esque project that generally involves Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett (the final incarnations of the the host, Crow and Tom).

Well, if you prefer the classic original lineup, you're in luck. It looks like the old school MST crew are looking to get in on the action, so Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstien, Mary Jo Pehl and Frank Conniff are starting something called Cinematic Titanic

It's not exactly the same thing. Rifftrax focuses on big-budget movies that they could never get the rights to, so you buy the DVDs yourself and download the riffs and sync them manually. Cinematic Titanic appears to be old-school MST3K. Terrible movies whose rights can be acquired for a song, released as fully completed DVDs/downloads. Whether there will be silhouettes and skits remains to be seen.

My first impressions of the website: Joel and Trace have both really aged well. They look better in those pictures than they did in Freaks and Geeks (the last time I'd seen either of them), although the close-up metro picture of Joel is very disturbing.

The first episode comes out next Monday (December 10, 2007). Anyone looking to relive afternoons in the basement watching Comedy Central in 1993, here's your chance. Just thought I'd keep you posted.

Share and enjoy! [Smile]
