I wonder how Ray feel about being referred to as "Star Wars Episode One star Ray Park"...

I mean, it's been almost a decade. [Smile]

It's better than being referred to as "X-Men Toad actor Ray Park".

Do you know what happens to Ray Park when he's hit by lightning?

He's forced to wear a full-body visored ninja outfit and join a super-heroic military organization, that's what!

Where can I get hit by lightning?

Oklahoma is always nice. Or for convenience, in your own backyard.

Is Jet Li getting cast as Storm Shadow? Having one without the other is WRONG! Also if there is Storm Shadow will he be pre or post cobra betrayal?

His post betrayal costume was oh so much cooler.

Before

After

Our home in Oklahoma was struck by lightning twice.

Couple that with the fact that my father was struck by lightning as a child, things got tense in our household when those big Oklahoma storms hit.

I'm intrigued. Park is usually worth watching. 'Course, the other 90% of the movie might be dreck.

"Wherever there's trouble, G.I. Joe is there." Coincidence? Or the military-industrial complex perpetuating itself? [Wink]

Snake-Eyes is romantically involved with fellow G.I. Joe member Master Sergeant Shana M. O’Hara, a.k.a. Scarlett.
Wha...huh? Has it been so long for me that I don't remember even a hint of that? I always thought Flint banged every woman in the group anyway...

The Scarlett/Snake Eyes romance was specific to the recent comics. (Though the infamous "Silent Story" from the Marvel Comics run had a hint of it)

I don't think it was an element in any of the cartoons.

Lady Jaye might take issue with your opinion on Flint's romantic life. [Wink]

Somehow, it's not shocking that

A. Puffy knew about this before me, or that

B. Puffy posted about it before anyone else.

I am so afraid this movie will suck so hard. If it does suck...Puffy will probably post about it first. [Smile]

Oh, it's going to suck. The question is, will it be awesomely bad...or just plain bad? [Big Grin]

You heard it from Puffy first. [Smile]

Come on people, how can it NOT suck? Haven't you people seen enough movies?

I just want to point out that Snake-eyes/Scarlett pairing was all over the Hama comics of the 80's, and Scarlett/Duke pairing was all over the TV show.

Sort of. Hama has said in interviews that he dropped some subtle sparks between the two into the "silent" story, but let the attraction mostly remain unspoken.

(No pun.)

Scarlett and Duke were a couple on the show?

I think it was obvious in Snake Eye's origin when Scarlett got miffed that Snake compared Scarlett to his sister, both how much Snake cared about her and who Scarlett wanted to be in Snake's life. That only about six issues after "Silent Interlude."

They weren't a couple in the way Ripcord and Candy were a couple, but that's where the romantic tension lay in the comics--between Snake Eyes and Scarlett.

Same way with the TV show. They weren't sneaking off to make out, but if anybody "paired off," on missions, and if there was anyone who Scarlett seemed more quick to ask after, it was Duke.

Does Snake Eyes even *speak*?

I'm gonna have to buy some sort of G.I. Joe box set or something, 'cause I've gotten old enough to forget a lot of things.

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

I really don't remember him speaking either, but it's been about 20 years since I read any GI Joe comics.

Posted by docmagik (Member # 1131) on :

No, he doesn't speak.

And in the old G.I.Joe comic they didn't use thought balloons, so they didn't have that crutch to show what he was thinking or feeling.

Snake Eyes actually was in a serious relationship with Scarlett. During a helicopter crash as he attempted to save her the windshield exploded and disfigured his face as well as damaging his vocal chords. He was informed by Doc that he needed to turn back and get immediate medical attention or else lose his voice permanently, but Snake Eyes opted to finish the mission.
