I was wondering if Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow can be condensed into a movie at all? It's tough enough adapting one book to the screen in two hours, let alone two. This led me to my recollection of the first film based on Frank Herbert's Dune. Rubbish. Absolute rubbish. Dune was too grand, elaborate, and ambitious to explore in the timeframe of two hours.

Then, in 2000, Scifi channel did a miniseries based on Dune, running 4-5 hours total. There were many things lacking, but the only other better adaption of book to screen I've seen is Peter Jackson's the Lord of the Rings.

So how about it? A miniseries that combines Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, reorganizing the material into three parts. Part I (Ender's Game) to introduce Ender and Bean, bringing Ender through his early battle school and Bean through his personal trials in Rotterdam. Part II (Ender's Shadow) dealing with the Dragon Army, and the Ender/Bean plot developments. Part III (Ender's Army?) covering command school, the bugger nightmares, and Ender's and Bean's final revelations.

The budged could be lower, paid for partially by advertising. Special Effects would revolve primarily around the Battle Room, the Rackham battles, and the holographic interfaces. It seems to me entirely doable. Any thoughts?

I think if you look through old threads, you might find one that could benefit from your thoughts here! : )

Clever name... what does it mean to you?

And - welcome to Hatrack!!! Don't let the scary ones intimidate you too much... They made me cry when I first came so consider yourself warned that some of them are not nice. Don't let them get you too angry, though, 'cause it's not worth it. Just stay away from the threads you see their names in or when they start to take a thread about an abstract subject and turn it into a diatribe on themselves, just wander along elsewhere.

Don't stay in the shadows too much, you'll miss out on the fun!

Happy posting...

edit: to add could in the first sentence
