I'm steven's daughter. He's talked about me a lot. I am just now starting EG. I'm on chapter 3. I'm really enjoying this Christmas.

Enjoy Ender's Game! It's destined to be one of your all-time favorites. [Smile]

I'm beginning to realize that I'm going to have to be serious every once and a while, but it's my magnanimous pleasure to make people laugh, though it takes really long for me to get the post posted posthaste because I type slower than a drunk turtle. Though I am just a young'un and I'm just memorizing the locations of the letters individually.Oh, and thanks for the welcome, breyerchic. I hope I can be just as familiarized with Hatrack as Daddy, and he's been posting on here for nearly 7 years. And don't be suprised if I say something stupid or immature, I'm only 9. [Roll Eyes]

Luna, how wonderful that you came here and gave us such a charming introduction to you, yourself. Are you a Harry Potter fan? (I was wondering about the "Luna" and LL in the Potter stories.)

I'm having a nice Christmas now, too. [Smile]

Oh, a nine-year-old with a better vocabulary than me.

You're in the right place. [Smile]

Posted by Luna 9 (Member # 11326) on :

Actually, yes CT, I am a fan of Harry Potter.I have not gotten to The Order Of The Phoenix yet.Sounds interesting. I think it's fun getting to know everyone and posting is teh awesome, too. BTW, anybody familiar with Edward Scissorhands or The Princess Bride? [The Wave]

Posted by Lisa (Member # 8384) on :

The movie or the book?

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Those are both very good movies. ^^

What is steven's handle? Welcome to Hatrack.

We have a lot of fun with THe Princess Bride around here . . . *smile*

Welcome to Hatrack, Luna 9.

steven is steven. Hmmm, should have seen that. Too much egg nog.

Again Luna, welcome.

Posted by Starsnuffer (Member # 8116) on :

Haha. Indeed. Welcome, and it sounds like you'll fit right in, based on the quote blackblade highlighted. HI!

Posted by adfectio (Member # 11070) on :

See, that sort of intelligence is something i'm lacking now. To have written that when I was nine would have been something out of a fantasy novel.

But yeah, welcome. You already fit in. [Big Grin]

As for EG, after you finish it and LOVE it (which I'm positive you will) try the sequals. Just don't give up on the first couple chapters of SftD, they're very different that EG. I was about your age when I first tried the sequals, and it threw me for a serious loop.

Are you kidding? This place is practically obsessed with The Princess Bride. I'm sure there are Edward Scissorhands fans, too, but we don't geek out about that movie quite as much.

Welcome aboard.

Hey everybody, guess what? I'm writing a novel! It's about a girl named Lydia living in Alabama with her mother, and then a boy named Brian moves in next door and at first they don't get along because Lydia is technically a hillbilly and Brian is a city slicker but then they become best friends. It has such a sad ending though:Brian is attacked by mountain lion. It's called The Cat And The Dog. [Mad] [Mad] [Kiss] [Cry]

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

Goin' nuts with the smilies, there, dear girl?

Her stories really are pretty good.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

If you called it "The City Mouse," you could tell people the mountain lion attack was symbolic of something.

Posted by Luna 9 (Member # 11326) on :

Well, Daddy, obviously the mad faces are Lydia and Brian not getting along, then the kissing faces are Lydia and Brian getting along, and the crying face is the sad ending.....okay, maybe it's not that obvious. [Blushing]

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Didn't we used to have a "being mauled by a mountain lion" smiley somewhere?

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

Isn't she cute and sweet? Awww, my little girl.

I'm a little verklempt.

Talk amongst yourselves.

I'll give you a topic.

Tante Shvester is neither a Tante, nor a Shvester. Discuss.

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

Actually her stories are good. The most recent one had a excellent McGuffin. The opening needed a little something, I thought, but it was definitely creative.

Daughter mine, why don't you post a little something that you've written?

"okay, maybe it's not that obvious."

It was, it's just that nobody here has used smilies exactly like that before, that I know of. It was OK, though.

Where'd you get that name from? I'm a Lydia. There aren't a whole lot of us around.

I guess I'll be the one to say it... This doesn't strike anyone else as being an obviously fictional person? Or, to be more precise, while the person may not be fictional, does it strike anyone else that these posts were probably not written by the real person to whom they are being attributed?

As a matter of fact, I am both a Tante and a Shvester. Although I was a Shvester before I was a Tante. It usually works that way. But not always.

Wait, is this serious or a joke?

Posted by TL (Member # 8124) on :

Joke? No.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

TL, with one or two exceptions, yes.

Posted by Little_Doctor (Member # 6635) on :

I think she's real. Maybe she's getting some help with her vocab, but steven has no reason to lie to us about something like this. Unless he has a reputation I don't know about?

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

For multiple personality disorder, you mean? Hmm . . .

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

I think the kid would be mad if I told that I have helped her with her spelling and, on one occasion, acted as a thesaurus. Her mom may be helping as well, on the other end.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

It's a good thing you're keeping that under your hat, then! [Wink]

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

D'oh!! [ROFL]

Actually she may not be mad. I used to have to break out the 10 pound, 2 volume dictionary weekly or even daily when I was her age and reading something with words I didn't know. Where's the shame in that?

I keep picturing the drunken turtle trying to type, or trying to picture it, it's a great image. [ROFL]

Quit lying to the people, TL. I don't need help with my vocabulary. Also, I'm not lying. Ask steven. He's my Daddy. Maybe I am a little like Ender Wiggin, being so young but yet so sophisticated. I'm in the AIG class, a special class for smart kids. If you ask steven, his response will be "She lies you not." Also, I'm on chapter 3 of my novel. I AM NOT STEVEN! I AM THE ALMIGHTY SKYLER! DO NOT MOCK MY EARLY ENDER-LIKE INTELLIGENCE!11! [No No] [Mad]

Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :

Okay, that last sentence rang pre-adolescent. But take it as a compliment, Luna. TL is not condescending to you.

Though technically, you're supposed to be 13 to be on this board. That's why I don't let my daughter post here. Of course you have an IQ of 140+ so it's like you're 13... but that's true of virtually everyone here. I'm mentally over 50 years old [Big Grin] . I wouldn't normally speak of IQ but I anticipate that it might come up and I have to go to bed now.

Posted by steven (Member # 8099) on :

"...I don't need help with my vocabulary..."

Technically speaking, you did, because you asked me how to spell "vocabulary".

Posted by aspectre (Member # 2222) on :

Technically, Luna 9 is 42years old. Her father just doesn't want it to be known that he's prehistoric.

pooka: You're mentally over 50 years old? Where did you get that, Brain Age?

Just kidding [Razz]

Posted by MidnightBlue (Member # 6146) on :

My brain age was 25, last I checked.

Posted by Luna 9 (Member # 11326) on :

Ok, fine, I can't spell vocabulary, sue me.

Wow. Pretty impressive, even if you are using your parents as walking dictionaries, Luna! It's not a sin to use them, and even I occasionally need to pick up a dictionary to make sure one of the words I use means what I think it means.

This is scary. You're as smart as a tack, and I didn't actually realize you were that young until I saw it stated outright. I would have guessed younger than me, but definitely not THAT young!

Posted by 0Megabyte (Member # 8624) on :

Ooh. Already making stories with non-standard, unhappy endings.

We have a little auteur in our midsts. [Big Grin] I'll be running in fear of your superior skills in a dozen years, little girl, just you wait.

Wow. That doesn't sound like very long... now I really AM scared.

Hi Luna!

I'm going to have to read that story of yours. We're moving to Alabama soon. My son is terrified that everyone will be more "countrified" there than they are here in NC.

Welcome! [Smile]
