Don't undergrad applications come with the repeated warnings not to send anything that isn't requested, like grad applications do?

These people really ought to just be rejected for trying such a stupid game.

Rivka, in the other thread you mentioned something about CalGrants for transfer students? My goal is to transfer to UCLA to finish my bachelor's degree, but I just missed the Fall '09 admissions, so I'm going to apply next go round.

Does that mean later this year, or next fall? Because only fall transfers are eligible for transfer entitlement CalGrants.

The full list of requirements is as follows:

In order to receive a Transfer Entitlement award, an applicant must:

• have graduated from a California high school after June 30, 2000, or have received the equivalency of a high school graduation within the specified time frame; High school equivalency means students who successfully pass the General Educational Development Test (GED) or pass the California High School Proficiency Examination any time after June 30, 2000;

• be a California resident at the time they graduated from high school;

• have attended a California Community College prior to transferring to a qualifying four-year college;

• have a verified community college grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.40

• be under 28 years old as of December 31 of the award year;

• meet all basic eligibility requirements;

• apply by March 2.

• attend a qualifying four-year college during the award year; and

• be a California resident at the time they graduated from high school.

UCLA only accepts Fall Transfers, as far as I know.

I'm not eligible, as I did not go to High School in California. Plus I graduated in 1999.

As a side note, I hate age restrictions on things for college! Financial aid and admissions, wise. Not doing a good job of promoting higher education to the unwashed masses, people! If someone wants to go to school, fits the other requirements, and takes the time to apply, why in the world would you reject them because they aren't young anymore? Lousy, I say.

porce, while non-Fall transfers are rare at the UCs, they do happen. Or at least they used to.

And I totally agree with you on the restrictions. Write your congresscritters and state legislators!

I never imagined people would send in stuff like that. I'd be terrified that I'd be rejected for something akin to an attempt at bribery!
