Will Michael Bay drop the major unresolved plot-lines of the first Transformers film in favor of mere robot battles?

I also enjoyed this article.

That one depressed me. Not the article, but the fact that the genre as it is now really doesn't allow much beyond what he describes.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that the author's tongue was buried in his cheek.

Do you think a studio will take a chance on my quirky, unusual screenplay? I hope so! I don't want to "sell out" by writing something commercial or generic!

If you read the comments section, take comfort in knowing you weren't alone. [Wink]

If Mr. Bay thinks I go to a Transformers movie solely to see giant space robots that turn into cars, he is sadly mistaken!
Hear, hear! I am only marginally interested in giant space robots that turn into cars! I go to a Transformers movie to see giant space robots that turn into jets and tanks!

And most importantly, giant space robots that turn into construction vehicles and then into an even more giant space robot (ginormous space robot, if you will) made out of six space robots.

And then they gotta beat the heck outta each other, otherwise what's the point?

Same here...I kept getting a visual of Megan Fox's ....

....shirt.

What did you THINK I was going to say? [Wink]

I hope not! [Big Grin]

Dear God, Mr. Snider, shut up! Michael Bay might be listening! [Angst]

I think the movie would have been horrible if it hadn't focused on the humans very much.

Oh, yeah! We'd have missed out on Anthony Anderson stuffing his face with donuts and shrieking, as well as the 15 minute masturbation joke.

That's far, far better stuff than, say, actually featuring the title characters. Robots fighting other robots can never be as cool as a Hispanic soldier cracking jokes about how Hispanic he is, or Bernie Mac making sure we know that he's got a sassy grandmother.

And we haven't even touched upon the depth, meaning, and human interest in spades the Sector Seven characters gave us. Without them we'd have missing Bumblebee having a reason to pee!

Perish the thought. [Wink]

I started to question his sincerity here:

quote:
Will the sequel continue to explore the budding romance between Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Barnes, played so memorably in the original by Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox? These are two refreshingly original characters, and their relationship stirs the soul on so many levels. It would be a shame if the sequel pushed those elements aside in favor of more action. I am also curious to know whether Mikaela will ever be successful in finding a shirt that fits her.
And then I was sure he was kidding here:

quote:
And let me go on the record now as saying that a Transformers movie without Jon Voight as Defense Secretary John Keller is no Transformers movie at all!
I'd forgotten half these guys were even in the movie. I'd trade them all for Grimlock.
