Hi all,

I'm back from my honeymoon in Phuket, Thailand. Jus and I are still glowing from the wedding on the 26th.

I don't have time to write more now, but I plan to do a blog post on the wedding and honeymoon when I can, and I'll post it here too.

(if you want to skip the post and just go straight for the pics, they're in a link at the bottom)

What I will say:

The weather held, despite predicted thunderstorms, thunder and rain 40 mins before the outdoor ceremony. In fact, it cooled down from the previous 32 degrees Celsius and turned in to a lovely mostly-sunny afternoon.

Our priest was hilarious, kept everyone laughing and light throughout the ceremony.

Jus looked utterly amazing.

I've never seen my parents, or Jus' parents so happy.

Heck, everyone was grinning their fool heads off.

It went off without a hitch.

The reception was awesome. Great sunset, great food. The band we chose were just fantastic. They asked us what we wanted for our bridal waltz, something we'd forgotten. So two minutes before we danced to "Oh What A Night" - that was way cool and everyone loved it.

My Dad made the most emotional speech I've ever heard him make, it was just lovely.

I didn't say much during my speech, limited it to thanking everyone and then sang two songs with one of my groomsmen, Peter, on guitar (he's an absolutely incredible guitarist).

I did "Not Myself" by John Mayer first, then (also by Mayer) "Your body is a wonderland". An odd choice for a wedding song infront of parents, priests, etc, but it has special significance to us - as I said to everyone on the night, it was exactly five years to the day that I first sang that song to Jus over the phone, when it was clear we were falling in love.

There wasn't a dry eye in the room, including mine.

The honeymoon was beyond belief.

We stayed at Katathani resort at Kata Noi beach. It's one of the only resorts in Phuket that is isolated and is directly on the beach - no roads or other buildings between it's expansive lawns and pools and the tropical 27 degree water.

We had perfect weather every day, hot and humid. We did some shopping and a tour, but mostly got up early, lay on deck chairs in the sun, swam, snorkelled and went out and ate local Thai food that was ridiculously good and stupidly cheap.

For example, one night we negotiated our fresh seafood dinner at a roadside restaurant. Picked out a large lobster, crab, parrot fish and squid - all really fresh. We had some salads and rice as well, the lobster and parrot fish were quite huge - a meal in themselves, almost. We drank Chang beer and cocktails. The entire meal cost about $35-40 australian, and was just about the best seafood I've ever had.

We had a heap of meals like that, Thailand's awesome and the people are just great.

Here's a link to a gallery I've put up of photos taken by various people and of the honeymoon. I don't have the professional shots yet, but I'll post when I do:

Awesome. There was a boy just that age at my sister's wedding who was supposed to be the ringbearer, but he was too scared to walk down the aisle. [Smile]

I should also mention - Jus' dress, along with the bridesmaids and flowergirl dresses were all handmade by Jus' mother.

The dresses are beautiful. I really like that shade of blue.

It was our goal to have cocktail dresses for the bridesmaids, rather than something that could be mistaken for the cake.

I'm back from my honeymoon in Phuket, Thailand.
That's where I went on my honeymoon! We actually stayed at a resort on an island off the coast (Coral Island), but we spent one day touring around Phuket and two more touring Bangkok before we left. [Big Grin] Isn't it beautiful there? How'd you manage with the jet lag? We kept sleeping right through dinner!

Congratulations on the wonderful experience! You sound very, very happy and content. [Smile]

It is stunning! Still suffering from jetlag, even though we're only 4 hours difference.

But I don't sleep well on planes usually, so I didn't really sleep for almost 2 days - I came straight back from the airport and went to work at 9am!

They still call you "Washer", don't they?

I mean, I still do, at least.
