Nightwish is apparently on a two and a half year long tour. They're visiting some...let's say less well known cities. The closest city to Detroit is London, Ontario, and I'd love to see them in concert. I'm curious as to whether they'll just play their new cd or if they'll actually do old material but with Annette singing it.

Tickets are less than $30, so, if there are any fans in the area who'd like to join me, none of my friends like Nightwish, I hate going to concerts alone, and it'd be a neat chance to meet other Hatrackers. Join me for "Epic Metal" awesomeness!

When is it?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

May 11th.

If memory serves correctly, don't you live in London?

London, Ontario.

You a Nightwish fan at all Teshi?

Actually, I'm in Sarnia. So if you want, you could drive up to my place and then I could drive us the rest of the way. It'd save you a couple of hours behind the wheel. [Smile]

Added: Actually, if it's a late show, you'd also be welcome to crash at my place. I've got a futon, spare blankets, etc.

Oh, I love that idea. That'd be extremely awesome of you. Sarnia is just over the bridge, I wouldn't have to drive that much in unfamiliar territory.

I should probably get my passport between now and then. I know I can still get across the Ambassador with a license and my birth certificare, and legally I should be able to for another year or two, but I'm not sure how the securty is in Port Huron.

Edit to add: They haven't announced a time, oddly enough, for when the show starts yet. I think if they only play Dark Passion Play's material, it'll be a short show. If that's the case I'll just drive back. Otherwise I appreciate the offer to crash there, as I tend to get sleepy when I drive too far at night. There's a rather amusing story about me, driving sleepy, and trying energy drinks for the first time that I like to tell, but it can't be done justice over the internet.

Nope. My brother is, but not me. But he's not a Hatracker.

Tell him to get you hooked between now and May and come join us!

Or just come anyway. Or maybe meet for a post-concert bite to eat afterwards?

Ooooh, I see that the problem is here. *fail*

I thought you were saying to twinky, "don't you live in London?" (as in England). But that makes no sense given the fact you say London, Ontario in the first post.

You assume that I live in London, Ontario from what I said. This is not the case. I live in Toronto at the moment and I will be in Ottawa in May.

Sorry for confusion [Smile] .

I don't have any Nightwish records, but I've listened to a song or two and enjoyed them enough that I'd be perfectly happy to drive up to London to see them live. Plus I have a couple of months to get better acquainted. [Razz]

Are tickets on sale yet, or does that come later?

Added: Re: border, I've never crossed without my passport, and of course now Canadians are required to have our passports to fly even within the U.S. (e.g. Detroit-Minneapolis, which I'm flying tonight).

Added 2: Oh, and I'm literally within sight of the border. Just take the first exit after the bridge and it'll spit you out practically on my doorstep. I'll give you proper directions closer to the actual date.

[Grumble]

I think there is a presale, and it appears to just be General Admission.

I'll check it out and get back to you.

May? It's a possibility, I guess.

Come on! It'll be fun! Road Trip!

Sweet, they're playing the Ogden Theater in Denver May 26.

I got a friend of mine to go with me. So if twinky is still in, there's three of us for the London show.

I'd be up for it if I didn't hope to be returning from a conference that day...

I'm still in.

I have plenty of spare pillows, but only one spare comforter, so if multiple people want to crash at my place some blankets and an air mattress might be advisable. Floor space for said gear isn't an issue.

I keep looking at this thread title and can't help but think that you all are talking about me in here.

No... guess not.

Move along everyone...

If I still lived in Michigan I'd join in, but I live in New Jersey now.

Time to come back to the Mitten MEC [Smile]

twinky, I have an air mattress with a battery operated pump that I'll bring if we decide to crash there. It's quite comfy. If it could survive the rocky dirt on Stone Mountain in Georgia, it can be comfy anywhere.

I'm quite geeked about this.

Cool.

Also, if you guys like to rock, I have an Xbox 360 and a copy of Rock Band. [Wink]

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Rock Band?!!!!

We're crashing there for sure!

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

*bump*

Are tickets available? I've got a wedding to attend on May 17th but that shouldn't interfere with this, so I'm still in, and my place and copy of Rock Band are still open. [Smile]
