Crawfish season is in! I picked up four pounds before I came back from Houston yesterday. The water is boiling right now and I have a cold Corona right next to me.

It's going to be a good night.

That was good. Belly's full and my lips are finally starting to get feeling back. I still have enough left over to put with the shrimp I brought back and make a double batch of etouffee tomorrow.

Yum. The local cajun place (indiana) has Chili Cheese Crawfish Etouffee which is amazing and rich.

See, I don't have a good cajun place here in Tulsa. I never tried cajun food until I moved to Houston. I really go hooked on it then.

Cajun is the only hot food I like.

I would probably like Cajun food if there wasn't so much seafood. I am not a fan of much seafood.

I do like Cajun-fried catfish, though. I don't care if it's a bottom feeder, it's danged good eatin'.

(I love hot food, though. Mexican, Jamaican, Indian-- as long as it's not shrimp or something, bring it on!)

I love seafood. I could eat something that swims everyday.

I swim!

Then I shall have your liver with fava beans for lunch with a nice Chianti.

[Razz]

edit: Chianti. Thanks Rivka.

Conversely, seafood that eats people is also weird.

Mmmm calimari. I would need a lot of breading for that one.

Thanks. I'm not a wine drinker.

I don't think I've ever had chianti. (Hmm, maybe I have. Bartenura makes one, and I've tasted most of their wines on one occasion or another.) I just like knowing how to spell unusually spelled (for English, anyway) words. [Smile]

Mmmm... little baby lobsters

The etouffee turned out great. I made a double batch so I could share with my wife's and my family. Not many of them liked it, but many don't like spicy or seafood.

Oh well, more for me.

Here is the recipe if anyone wants. I just found it on the internet and really like it.

I absolutely embarrassed myself at an all you can eat seafood restaurant the night before I left Louisiana.

Which is good because I know no one in California knows anything about how seafood's supposed to taste.

I dunno, I have a friend whose dad has a seafood restaurant that consistently gets rave reviews (from the locals, not foodies with the paper. Though I've never seen a foodie have a problem with it.)

I haven't been able to eat the little arthropods since I dissected one in Biology and learned what all the little things were for.

I saw this thread title and thought it was about those blasted Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey team that is always beating our poor little Wichita Thunder hockey team to death. [Frown]

Which is a bigger rivalry? Shreveport vs. Wichita or Tulsa vs. Wichita.

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

Hmm... I always thought the OKC Blazers were considered our biggest rival...

I can't say that I follow it enough to have a strong opinion on that. I have gone to a few matches, but we've lost all the ones I've attended [Frown]

I have been to a couple in Wichita. I know they did not like Tulsa there. Wichita would be Tulsa's second biggest rival (second to OKC, it's hard to beat the in-state rivalry).

Of course, this is from ten years ago. I haven't been games regularly in ages.
