Or, average, mundane activities made to seem absurdly dramatic through various means.

Such as eating potatoe chips or writing in a notebook .

So, the game is this:

Find something seemingly like an everyday activity, but shown in some television show or movie in a manner that makes it seem absurdly dramatic.

You know, ominous latin chanting, dramatic camera angles, cool sound effects, etc.

Bonus points if it's serious.

I wrote a response.

...but first I made sure no one was watching through the peephole on my door.

LOL. I'm just so amused that I instantly got the title of this thread as soon as I saw it. I love Death Note.

Yes, Death Note is a good series. Furthermore, its concept makes for an interesting conversation piece.

Shall I ask Hatrackers the obvious question here, or on a new thread?

Is the obvious question whether they are rooting for Light or L?

If so, I am rooting for L (yes, I do know what happens).

To paraphrase John Stuart Mill, That there are people who are of no good to society, and which we would benefit if they were killed. However, if people were not punished for killing, and taught to not kill, everyone's life would be in danger.

I don't remember the exact quote.

I think that the obvious question is whether or not one would use the Death Note if given the opportunity. Personally, I don't think I would, even though there are probably people without whom this world would be a better place, I don't have the right to judge such things.

By the way, if this thread (or any others) are going to have discussions based on Death Note, I just want to request that there be no spoilers, at least not without warnings. I'm watching the dub as it airs weekly, and I'm only 20 episodes into it. I'd really hate to have anything spoiled at this point.

I just started watching Death Note the other day (some girl told me to), and am nearly done with the series. It's addictive.

Neo dragon got the obvious question.

And you got it - no spoilers.

Basically, yes. If you found the Death Note, would you use it?

As for myself? Hard to say. Worst case scenario I can imagine, though, is becoming a Kira myself.

I'd make the world's most boring kira.
