So I am applying to work for a number of places one of them a popular Montreal based Game testing company and oops... when i emailed my resume I forgot to attach erhm... my resume, I had a nice cover leeter and my references on the first email but i noticed 5 minutes later I made a mistake.
So I resent the email WITH the CV and apologized for the inconvenience.
I didn't make a huge mistake did I?

Did you proofread the cover "leeter" and the resume first?
Depending on the circumstances, I don't think it's a big deal. Good luck.

That will not be the reason they pass you over, no.
Good luck with the job.

The coverletter was more of the body of my email detailing my history with gaming, my experience with consoles and explaining my love and passion for gaming, which ironically I now have to answer a screening test where I get to parse out my letter into 20 different answers. And yes my teachers proofread my cv.

Wow, that was kinda mean, but kinda funny.

YOu know, there are worse things that can happen, and it still turn out okay.
In January I wrote a story and sent it to an editor. In my cover letter email I called the editor Mr. Price (his name was Pierce) and I misspelled the name of the friend who had worked with him before and from whom I had heard about the market. Plus, the .doc attachment still had a comment function note-to-self in the margin. *headdesk* I screamed when I realized I'd hit SEND. I writhed in embarrassment, and chalked it up as one toward my rejection goal for the year.
The guy bought the danged story anyway.
So, I guess it just depends on how well qualified you are and how tolerant of such things they are. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

there are over 800 positions open, I highly doubt i can goof up that badly.

Yeah, a horrible, horrible mistake would have been to attach your personal communist manifesto that includes a picture of yourself in the nude.

That depends on which position he's applying for.

Although I am trying hard NOT to have that image.

Very true. That's how I got into grad school.

I didn't intend it as mean... but I see how it could look that way.

And how Obama will become president.

You are, of course, talking about the guy who actually does have a mocked-up picture of himself as Lenin.
Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :
Stalin actually.

No cheating.
Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :
Why would I cheat?
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
Very cool, Blayne!
Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :
My point still stands.
Posted by Nighthawk (Member # 4176) on :
Wait... you have to find all the bugs by watching someone else play?!?
Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :
its a test thing not the actual job, my performance will be examined and deliberated on and if i pass ill have a summer job.
Posted by adfectio (Member # 11070) on :
Sweet man. Good luck. Sounds like a fun, albeit repetitive job.
Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :
Unfortunately, come Friday, they will forget to attach the video to your email.
PS. Good luck.

Yes. Apologizing makes you look weak.
By the way, you shouldn't harbor any resentment toward e-mail. It was your mistake, not the e-mail's.
Posted by The Genuine (Member # 11446) on :
Doesn't look weak. Everyone screws up the attachment thing.
Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :
Alrighty so I got the email, watching it now.
It doesn't help with picking out bugs when I don't know a thing about baseball.
"Is that wrong? Is that wrong? Is that supposed to be like that?"

Do some quick research on the rules, and watch a game or two online. Sometimes these things take more than cursory effort.
Best of luck--it sounds like a job opportunity that really suits you.
Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :
They said to answer it as soon as possible.
Posted by Morbo (Member # 5309) on :
Blayne, be sure you pick up on pitchers' balking or any violations of the infield fly rule.

It's a holiday weekend, no? One way or the other, you presumably have Saturday and Sunday to do it--in Canada, probably Monday, too.
