Does anyone know of any good software for resizing/moving partitions in Windows Vista (64 bit) without destroying the data?
Partition Magic (which I LOVED) doesn't work in Vista, and I've seen Paragon Partition Manager, but can't seem to find any definitive reviews of the software.
Your help is appreciated!

Assuming that you have an NTFS partition, I've successfully used gparted's liveCD in the past for this. (It's free.)
Obviously you'll be backing up anything you can't stand to lose before doing this, no matter what software you end up using.

I'm not quite sure how to go about using this application. I downloaded and extracted the file from the website (.tar compression), but then every file in the extracted folder lacked a file extension, making life less than easy. Any clues would be appreciated.

I would like to second gparted. I have used it successfully on XP and 2000. Never tried Vista, but it did do NTFS just fine. I was creating a partition for dual booting Ubuntu.
I had no problems. Very intuitive.

Download the live CD iso from here. Then use a program that can burn an iso image.

Blayne, I've used Acronis TrueImage and liked their software, but I know that, for TrueImage, at least, Acronis has not updated their software for Vista. I'm not familiar with their line of partition managing software, but I can look into it.

I have Daemon Tools Lite, but I can't seem to find a way to burn the image: only to mount it. Thoughts?

I am not sure what programs come with Vista. If you have an XP box, you could download and install cdburnerxp. That has worked well for me in the past. However, I would think your Vista came with Nero or Roxio--both of which work.

Dude, there's a Vista partitioning tool.
Computer-->Manage-->Disk Management
Works like a charm. I've partitioned for Ubuntu and then partitioned over it more than once and am still good.

The Windows Disk Management utility is great if I'm starting to partition a drive from scratch. I was hoping to resize and move partitions without losing data. Currently, gparted is working just fine. *knocks on wood*

I didn't want to, but I ended up installing Nero, mounted the ISO, then copied the virtual CD.
