I was just thinking. You know what would be a really cool idea, if someone would come up with some type of *shock bracelet* we could put on passengers on commercial jets. If anyone turns out to be a terrorist, the crew could just shock them!

Think of the possibilities. Oh, wait...someone already came up with that idea (start at 3:06). And it seems the Department of Homeland Security thinks it is a good idea. Granted they see it as a potential product for illegal immigrants, but they do see "it is conceivable to envision a use to improve air security, on passenger planes."

I am still trying to figure out if this company is a joke or a hoax.

Yeah, no way.

What if they make a mistake and shock me by accident? Or shock someone with a pacemaker?

I prefer Dan's idea, and I hated that one.

I think I might never voluntarily fly again, if this was implemented. Particularly if some of the bitchier flight attendants could shock me just because they're PMSing. Shoot, man... [ROFL]

That technology doesn't even make sense. It's going to shoot some radio waves that make you immobile? We don't live in Harry Potter land.

It's great until some Macguyver terrorist turns the bracelet into a taser and incapacitates the crew. Then once they are in command of the cockpit, they entire population of the plane is really at their mercy in every way.

What if they put a trap door under the seat of every passenger? Or maybe have an anvil suspended above every seat that'll release at the touch of a button.

Who thinks this crap up?

No, no, no. Above them so that they can spring load the seats. Besides, the cargo hold is below.

Weight restrictions; spends more fuel. I vote for a "Sword of Damocles" over every passenger.

Just poison the passengers beforehand and promise to administer the antidote once the plane has landed safely.

We also need to implement an inertia manipulation device, so the terrorists can remain suspended above the plane once ejected, moving at the same velocity, until they have time to look up, blink, and realize what's happened, at which point they will cease being able to maintain their speed and will fly backwards, going "AHHHH HOO HOO HOO WHEEEEeeeeee" as they disappear.

They're SUICIDE bombers. They don't care about dying.

I have an idea. Let EVERYONE in a plane carry a gun. How long do you think a terrorist would last? Surely not long enough to accomplish anything. It's the same principle behind areas with concealed carrying laws having LOWER violent crime rates. Who will risk it when anybody can put you down at any time?

You know a whole bunch of toddlers are going to get offed for kicking the seat in front of them, though.

Well, according to the FederalAirMarshallService, "We know that there was never any danger to the aircraft or to the occupants on board" when gunfire erupts during a flight. So toddlers can amuse themselves by shooting the seats instead of kicking them.

OK, try filling the body of the plane with a non-flammable anesthetic--something relatively harmless and that isn't too addictive--say a prerecorded speech by Greenspan should do nicely. then everyone would simply sleep from coast to coast.

Save money on food, drink, and stewardesses.

We should put all of the passengers under heavy anestesia, and handcuff them to the seats,
They can wake up at their destinatuion in seemingly no time!!!
(i just realized thats a little like somec for starpilots!! XD [Big Grin] )

I'd probably like flying better if I could be sedated, loaded into a stackable passenger crate, and not have to deal with boarding, cramped seating, stinky neighbors, and the nth flight safety presentation. However, I probably would not like it if I was sedated and the plane had to crash land, or if I woke up and we were still in the air, or any of the other things that might go wrong.

We should just put attack dogs in a special room between the passengers and the cockpit, everyone knows a terrorists main weaknesses are attack dogs and kryptonite. Duh
