Obama spoke at google a few months ago. His speech is only 15 minutes long and deals mostly with science, technology and innovation, and education. There's then a 45 minute question and answer session. It was cool to see a candidate caring about science(even if he already had my support). But for those upset with the lack of tech talk from the candidates, you might be interested in this.

I posted a link a few months ago, I don't remember the site now, but, there's a big movement going on trying to get the eventual Dem and GOP candidates to commit to having just a Science Debate in the upcoming election.

I'll see if I can find it.

I remember you posting that. I signed some sort of petition. But I don't think there's been any progress with that. Or at least, no candidates have agreed to take part in that debate yet afaik.

I think they'll get pressed on it more once we actually have two official candidates. The debates themselves aren't for like six more months. That's plenty of time to try and get them to agree to it. I only heard about it because of NPR, it needs more mainstream attention.

I'm not worried right now. But really, the problem is less with the candidates than it is with the media. Candidates by and large only answer questions they are asked. When you don't ask them questions about science, technology, and the environment, they won't talk about science, technology and the environment.

I'm listening to Obama's talk right now. It's nice to hear a candidate talk about technology as more than the rah rah "we're #1!" crap that candidates usually spew. He's listing some specifics.

I wish they would post transcripts of these things. I can read a transcript in a fraction of the time it would take me to watch the video and I don't really have the time to watch an hour long video for each of the 3 candidates.

(Ron Paul likely has something interesting to say but at this point I think its an exaggeration to call him a candidate)

Well, Obama's speech itself is only 15 minutes.

The other speeches(I admit to not having watched them yet) don't necessarily have anything to do with science, I'm not sure what the subject of their talks are.
