I wasn't really planning to buy a pet canary yesterday. It just kind of happened.

He's very small, completely white with black eyes and has a beautiful (loud) song which he's been singing all day.
Apart from the singing, his main hobbies seem to be taking baths and throwing his food on the floor. He seems happy.

I have kept budgies and currently have a cockatiel (which I'm keeping in another part of the house so he doesn't attack the newbie).
But I've never had a canary before, so I wondering if there's anything about them I should know?

Also, I need name suggestions, please! I don't have a clue what to call him.

How about Sylvester? Just to put a spin on the obvious.

That's such an odd name for a canary... I love it! [Big Grin]

Wow, I love Sylvester. That's a definite maybe.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

I took the little dude to the vet yesterday and he gave him a clean bill (sorry) of health, so I'm very relieved. [Smile]

blue, or light. Thats what i would name my canary, only if it were not blue or dark though.

I love canaries. Every time I go into a pet store that has them, I just go stand by the cages and listen for a while. It would be nice to get one someday.

Is he very messy? We had finches for a while, and they were the messiest birds I've ever had.

He likes to throw out seed shells and things. So yeah, quite messy.
But then, I'm not always very tidy myself. [Wink]
