While I haven't truly followed Bil Keane's cartoon since I was very young, I did read recently that Thel Keane, the inspiration for the Mother character has passed away.
I was surprised and touched by the following cartoon. I hadn't expected Keane to acknowledge her passing, but I shouldn't be surprised. By all accounts they were deeply devoted to each other.
