hey yall, i was wondering if anybody here has ever been part of any, or is part of any youth organizations such as NFTY, URJ Camps, BBYO, etcetera. i kinda doubt that anybody will respond to this, but it was worth a try. ill delete this tread if it amounts to nil.

Would Hillel and/or NCSY qualify?
Posted by LargeTuna (Member # 10512) on :
not sure what it is, but survay says .... YES WINNER

Ok. I participated in various Hillel events when I was a college student, and I have a semi-official interaction with the local NCSY because of work.
Was there a follow-up question?

I was part of BBYO in high school and Hillel when I was in college. But I wasn't particularly active in the latter(I'd attend a few events a year).

I was a part of Hillel in college, and USY in high school.
Why do you want to know?

I was on the Hillel Vaad (student board) at Washington University back in the 80s. I was technically a member of LTF (Conservative youth groupy thing; I think it stood for Leadership Training Fellowship).
My partner was active in SEFTY, and my ex was very active in USY (though she's charedi now).
Is this like a survey or something, or did you actually have a reason for asking?

I live in a Jewish state...? Probably a different experience, though.

I knew of a Hillel in my college but they got closed down.

I went to some Young Judea events in high school. I remember being impressed at the Hanukkah party where we made latkes that I could be sitting there in the middle of a roomful of strangers, crying (from grating onions), and nobody thought any the worse of me for it.
