Apparently there was a huge explosion of some kind in Toronto last night. There haven't been any official statements of any kind, and I can't seem to find any actual news on it. Apparently some propane explosion.

Unbelievable video:

Any Hatrackers in Toronto? Hope everybody's all right. [Frown]

My mom has a friend who lives in Toronto. We haven't contacted her yet but CNN says that there are no reported casualties and my mom doesn't remember there being any large propane facilities near where she lives last time she visited.

That video is incredible. Wow. How scary.

EL, Rei, and Sean live in Toronto, although EL may still be in England, I'm not sure.

I'm still in England. Rei is okay, he moved recently and wouldn't be in the zone (he used to live on the edge of the evac zone), but anyway he's in England too at the moment. Far as I know, all the people we know in Toronto are fine.

The video is right scary, though. [Angst]

This looks like a classic BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion).

Holy crumpets. I've been at work all day and I come back to hear about this massive explosion in Toronto. Scared me to bits until I could read that nobody was hurt.

Watching the video... what a hugely dramatic explosion.

Jeez that was insane.

The screaming gave me 9/11 flashbacks.

if it wasnt for how much I actually do trust my government it is scary for other reasons.

My law teacher once told me that a Canadian 'state of emergancy' based on current laws wouldn't be far removed from the Enabling Act of the 1930's.

I'm watching videos on youtube and thinking how the nature of current events has changed in the last few years. We live in an age when we don't have to rely on commercial news stations if we don't want to; within hours of an event, we can read first-hand accounts and see witness video no matter where in the world we live (well, sometimes with some exceptions in countries that censor internet access.)

I'm glad no one we know is hurt and that no casualties are reported.

Heard on the radio that one fire fighter died and there's one other person unaccounted for.

This reminded me of the foundry explosion in Tacoma last year.
