The 100th post.
An odd (technically even) and full number. 100, you feel like you accomplished something, that is until you look at the counts of some of the more decorated of Hatrack's denizens. Truly quantity isn't everything, but is there some glimmer in your eyes as you look upon the count? Regardless, after merely viewing for so long and only recently beginning to post I feel a sense of pride.

Do you lot recall your feelings when you 100th post came upon you? Or did it fly by in a flurry of heated posts? Did it not concern you in the least, insignificant, or did you make it one to remember? Was it a page long theory, rant, or a well placed smiley? What milestone do you aspire towards, what number says you arrived?

The way I look at it, you're nobody until Ralphie mentions you by name. [Wink]

I don't remember my 100th post.

I made by 1000th post a Landmark, and plan to do the same with my 2000th (if I ever get there).

Remember my 100th post? I don't remember my last post!

Hey, I remember.

Kinda.

I know it took me forever to get there, and it was a big deal to me. And then forever to get to 1000, which was a bigger deal.

I think I'm over 2000 now.

I guess I'll see.

Hmmm, I'm nobody.

(One of my favorite poems...)

I wonder whatever happened to her. . .

Shoot, I might be nobody.

That does not bode well for the job search! [Smile]

(ETA: No, I don't remember my 100th post. That was probably just under nine years ago!)

In a little over nine years, I haven't hit 1700 posts.

I've been here so long, (lurking), that I can't even remember my 1st post. heh

I'm not even sure, until I post this, how many post I have.

This can't be true.

I'm still not real.

She's mentioned me by name, I'm not a nobody! [Wink]

He said you're nobody, not you're not real. Real has its own set of criteria... [Wink]

Given that I met Ralphie (and she addressed me by name) at my first shinda, they weren't so different for me.

That's like asking what I had for lunch a year ago last Tuesday. I eat every day! I can hardly remember what I had for lunch three days ago [Smile]

Sure, but until a couple of weeks ago you'd been inactive here for years, right?

Posted by dean (Member # 167) on :

No, not at all, actually. I got this account in 1999 and came here a lot until 2002 (and wrote some gigantic posts). Between 2002 and 2005, I would come and read some about once or twice a month. Starting around August 2005, I became a dedicated lurker-- checking Hatrack at least once a week and sometimes daily depending on what threads were active. For the past two years or so, I've been reading funny threads out loud to (the person who is now) my boyfriend, and he considered getting an account more than once. In fact, looking at my recent posts, I've had at least one a month for the past six months, and even started a thread last February. I'm just extremely low-profile, I guess.

Looking at the topics posted in, I've apparently posted at least once a month for a year.

No, I definitely don't remember. I remember 500, which took forever to get to, and for which I wrote a landmark, but that's it.

Edit: Apparently I'm now over 2500, whoa. I was sure I was still under 2000. Posting up a storm, I am.

Huh--that's interesting, dean. I don't read every thread the way I used to, which is probably why I made the mistake, but I really thought that you'd been gone for years, with maybe the occasional (no more than once a year or so) pop-in. You're definitely someone I'd notice posting, if you were doing so in a thread I was reading.

Posted by dean (Member # 167) on :

Well, as I said, I've mainly been lurking, and I'm less likely to post in the serious threads, though I'm more likely to lurk there. So we may have been reading the same threads, but I don't have as much to say as I used to. =D

I think Ralphie did mention me by name, or some variation of it back around the time I hit 100 posts, about a month after I joined.

... I consider 4 hours a long time [Embarrassed]

Mwahahahahahahaha I'm almost at 500. About 4 months.

I remember when I hit 300. It's funny to think of now, but that was by far the highest post count at that time. I remember they asked me to make a speech. =) I was a little ashamed to be so obviously the poster with the least life. Hah! Seriously, 100 used to be a lot. 300 seemed just totally crazy way back in the day. Ah, how times have changed! [Smile] [Smile] [Smile] [Smile] [Smile] I made my first post in June of 1996, I think. This was on the old big mouth lion forum.

Congratulations on reaching the auspicious number of 100 posts! I hope you stick around and enjoy the place.

I remember the afternoon that I spent looking at every user's profile to calculate who had the most posts at the time to make that thread. I remember now that I had only 90 then and I was among the most active people on the board. =D

I'm pretty sure I've been Mentioned.

In some context.

I don't remember my 100th. I let my 1000th go by accidentally - was procrastinating on a different screenname, then accidentally logged in on my primary.

I decided around my 2000th that I didn't really want to do one at that time - and I don't even remember hitting 3000, to be honest. Maybe if I ever hit 5000... at my pace, that'll be somewhere around 2011 or so, I guess.

I believe I let 100 come and go like any other number, but I was genuinely happy for every thousand.

Others may not share the sentiment. [Wink]

I'll wait till I have 100 relevant posts, then do a landmark.

So far I owe 50 relevant posts.

150 to Go!

Posted by Lupus (Member # 6516) on :

no, I remember the landmark I posted at around 1,000 posts...but I don't remember my 100th.

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I haven't the foggiest idea. I don't even know how many posts I have now. Let's see.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

My post count has never really been important to me, and I've never written a landmark post. I kind of think of my "snake eating a frog" thread as my landmark, though I know that doesn't completely make sense.
