Being that Google's turning 10 and all, they've released this:

Google Search 2001

In honor of our 10th birthday, we've brought back our oldest available index. Take a look back at Google in January 2001.
I would recommend searching terms such as iPod, Zune, "bin Laden," and Google yourself (I, unfortunately, didn't exist in the Googleverse in 2001).

Wikipedia is one of my favorites, and don't worry i don't exist in 2001 either.

For me it's swineonline. An old browser based game that I loved as a little kid way back when. It has since deceased, but the 2001 search has it!

I barely exist, some high school University of Toronto contest and an automatically generated ICQ(!) page.

Ah, the memories.

Oh, and some Usenet posts on sucky Bell Internet. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

A whole bunch of old Hatrack posts (from 2002, mostly) can be accessed that way. And the signup form for EnderCon!

One Workforce Investment Act agency board out of thousands of listings. That is the curse of the common name. I sometimes wish my mom had more of an imagination.

One amusing thing: I have a much better ratio of hits then than now. If you "Rivka <lastname>" then, you only get a few hits -- but half are me. If you search it now, most of the hits are a couple of college instructors by that name. Depending on the day, I usually have one hit on the first page of results and one or two on the second.

Try Barack Obama, that's an interesting one.

Sarah Palin registers no relevant hits.

Weird ... I found a lot of stuff that was more recent than January 2001.

John Romero:

And apparently, MySpace was some sort of file-storage or security thing?

They're using an old index; I don't think that necessarily means all its hits won't have been updated.
