Nor did I. I suppose I should have.

I love his stories. I think he should be credited with popularizing if not inventing the cultural/murder mystery genre.

I've read almost all his books. I haven't read his last few yet -- I've read so many of his others that I needed a break -- but I'll get to them someday.

I've lived in New Mexico for 3 years, but I've never got around to reading his books. I guess this would be a good time, eh?

I'd like to check out a couple books and see if I like them. I'm worried that if I start too early in the bibliography, I might get a book that was written before his style fully developed. But if I start too late, I might be missing some critical back story that would make it hard to follow.

Can anyone recommend the best book or two to start with?

Oh, no. I will miss his books. If I'd known him personally, I'm sure I would have missed him as well.
