Several years ago, I heard of someone who severed both of their arms in a piece of farm equipment and managed to dial 911 with a pencil in their teeth.

My thought at the time was, if that happened to me, my mental process would be: "Yep. Those are my arms lying on the ground there. It's time to die. I think I'm going to lie down and hope I pass out from blood loss before the shock wears off..."
