Makers of these items will still have to be sure that the items don't contain lead, but now if their suppliers certify the parts they don't have to re-certify the whole thing, at least not this year, while the CPSC reveiws and revises their rules.
I read somewhere that librarians are up in arms over new lead requirements that might actually keep some children's books out of kids' hands because of lead based inks.
I only browsed the article though, and I can't remember where it was. Anyone have any more specifics off the top of their heads?

I like how crafters are now being listed as people being effected by the law. Before they (we?) weren't even being acknowledged. At least it seems that they are understanding that something needed to be done about the gap in time between when they vote on how the law affects us and when it goes into effect.
