Hello all...this is my first post and probably my last resort in finding a book I owned years ago, that's since been lost to the nether regions of move after move, storage after storage...the last time I remember reading it was either '88 or '89.
I can't remember the title or the author! Just parts of the plot...
It's a picture book, boldly illustrated, but kind of dark in content. Sort of Corduroy Bear gone wrong...there's a stuffed bear in a department store and he has to save a little boy? A little girl, maybe?
One of the stronger images I remember is a man looking into a bathroom mirror and his reflection was a demon.
So. Not to much to go on, I know...but if anyone has any advice, insights, or where to begin looking for the title/author of a long lost book like this, it'd be most helpful.

You're remembering Oddkins: A Fable For All Ages by Dean R. Koontz. It's long out of print, but used copies can be found online.
(Ignore Publisher's Weekly rather harsh review on the Amazon page. They were just being stick-in-the-muds.)

I can beat that. I had an English teacher who kept saying "daughter-in-laws". And we were doing Lear, so he said it a lot.

Well, sure, there was more than one daughter, but maybe there was also more than one law.
Like if my son marries a woman, she'd be my daughter-in-law. And if my daughter enters a civil union with a woman, she'd also be my daughter-in-law. But since there are two different laws for the two different women, maybe then they really could be my daughters-in-laws.
Wait? What was the question again? Demonic corduroy bear in the mirror? Sticks? Muds? I'm getting distracted.

I've often thought that Oddkins would make a cool movie. Maybe one by Pixar, or Studio Ghibli...
