I keep finding the need to access the web when I'm out in the world and away from my laptop, mostly to answer questions like "where's the closest UPS store to grandma's house?" My gps nav unit doesn't have anything much in it, and what's there is so out of date it's unreliable, despite the fact that I downloaded the latest information from the manufacturer not that long ago.
Another thing I find myself wanting to do all the time is look up words I read on print media.
I think the anywhere web access would be the greatest application for this, but I can also see the usefulness for showing stuff from a personal database of information. There needs to be a way to present the information privately, though.
I can't wait to get one of these! I'm sure it'll be super useful in a million ways we haven't even thought of yet.

Well, there are already video displays on the insides of glasses. If they were to integrate their tech with that, they might be able to make it so that it appears to the user to look like it did in that demo without it actually being projected outward. I suspect something like that will happen.

A lot of the demonstrations of the system were dependent on a level of computer image recognition that I don't think we are anywhere close to.

most of the applications you bring up are currently available with a pda or similar device. My favorite thing about having an iPhone is having wikipedia, google, and gps at my fingertips.
To me it was the level of interaction with your surroundings that was mindblowing about this technology.
I agree about the privacy aspect, but if like Lisa says, you can integrate this with an in glasses projection that would solve that problem. Ideally so you can switch back and forth between viewing through glasses and projecting out in front of you.
