So today there's supposed to be a huge barrage of e-mails for Fox, Warner Bros and Syfy (*twitch*) in a last ditch effort to save Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Below is the "mission statement" from sarahconnorsociety.net (Depending on your outlook, it's either really lame or really clever. I think it's kinda both)

I'll also note that you can pre-order Season 2 on Amazon. I definitely consider it something worth owning regardless of whether I was trying to save a dying show, and ordering now is a better incentive than any number of e-mails is.

Finally, you can just watch an episode or two on Fox.com and/or hulu.

Whatever the case, I promise I'll shut up about this come May 18th and get a life like a normal person.

quote:
If you’re reading this, YOU are The Resistance:

Judgment Day is coming on May 18 and we must fight the final battle for our future.

What’s the plan?

Sending massive e-mails simultaneously in two waves: First wave on Friday 8 and second wave on Friday 15.

We need to flood Fox with a HUGE amount of e-mails supporting our show, plus the links to every poll we have won and we’re winning till now.

This is a call for all the Resistance Fighters around the world to stay united and work together as one.

Our future depends on it.
We need to work together coordinating our efforts to spread the word.

You can also write to Sci Fi Channel:

feedback@scifi.com - let Sci Fi know what a great show this is and indicate your support for them should they pick up the show in the event of a cancellation from FOX.

Let our voices be heard!!
Together we can make the difference.

Spread the word.
Spread your love for TSCC around the globe.

The future is not set.
There’s no fate but what WE make.

You know, someone more informed and less lazy than me should do a study on how well the shows that replace shows such as Firefly and Terminator do compared to the shows they replace.

Yeah....

I think the actual answer (vaguely picked up from the my followings of ratings over the past few months) is that the average show is likely to do about as well as Terminator did before the switch to Fridays. BUT there's always the chance that they'll score a huge hit. So statistically, under normal circumstances, it's better for them to drop and replace a show with Terminator's ratings.

Normal circumstances not including a major motion picture that has a chance to revitalize ratings drastically.

Rakeesh: Unfortunately, TV shows are lottery tickets. If you have a losing lottery ticket, it's lost. (This isn't a perfect metaphor because TV shows CAN gain audience.)

But a brand new show might be the Winning lottery ticket, bringing in the big bucks. Friends or Sienfeld or X Files or any of a number of shows that were hugely successful no matter how much they sucked.

Network execs are very good at exploiting the collective stupidity of large number of people with credit cards and no math skills. (You know, the people advertisers want.) That's why they're network executives.

And that's why the shows we love get canceled.
