So as I understand it, dobies are named after someone called Dobie, who used to do them a lot. I think we should use dobbies as a term for any time a loser pops into a thread for no reason other than to put down the subject of the thread. "Dobbie" would be a subset of "Troll". Instead of "don't feed the troll", we'd say "don't feed the dobbie", or DFTD.

Since I usually make words in my head out of internet acronyms, what I get from that is "dffftaddd". I would prefer a more pronounceable acronym.

1) Dobbie is a house elf, not a troll.
2) Dobie shouldn't have two different hatrack memes named after him.
3) I guess this was sparked by the Whedon thread? I can't say I've paid too much attention, but popping into a thread to disparage the subject of the thread is a very common hatrack occurance, and I don't think Dobbie is more guilty of this than lots of others (I myself have been guilty at least once I can think of). There was a while there when any thread about a TV show had the usual 2-3 people popping in to brag about how they don't watch TV. Ditto for any sports thread, where you'd get similar "I don't watch sports" bragging posts. Thankfully that seems to have died down.
4) Folks who do a fair amount of trolling themselves should be careful over throwing labels around.
