From Fox News

quote:
Mays was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla., home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry to May's residence and foul play is not suspected. Authorities said an autopsy should be complete by Monday afternoon.

Mays, 50, was on board a US Airways flight that blew out its front tires as it landed at a Tampa airport on Saturday, MyFOXTampa.com reported.

US Airways spokesman Jim Olson said that none of the 138 passengers and five crew members were injured in the incident, but several passengers reported having bumps and bruises, according to the station.

Authorities have not said whether Mays' death was related to the incident.

"Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times," Mays wife, Deborah, said in a statement on Sunday.

Wow. I guess when we tell you to see a Dr. for any head injury, no matter how minor, there might be a good reason.

Damn.

This death is more upsetting to me than any other that has happened recently.

David Carradine
Ed McMahon
Farrah Fawcett
Michael Jackson
Billy Mays
William Hung (yes, he was found today)

What ever happened to these things coming in threes? That's 6 within a month, I think.

William Hung isn't dead according to google...

I was about to ask the same thing, it seems like that rumor resurrects itself at about this time every year.

I don't want him dead, I just want him to lose his voice (such as it is).

For good.

This has been a ridiculously cruel month for celebrity deaths. I never bought any of Billy's products, but my wife and I loved seeing how many different things he would try to sell us.

BILLY MAYS HERE WITH THE AFTERLIFE

Inappropriate thought for the day: I can just picture Billy Mays screaming at St. Peter, trying to sell him cleaning products.

I hope he brought some oxyclean, so as to be able to demonstrate it's magnificently whitening cleaning power on Pete's white robes.

My home town has had two well known locals die this week. A 58 year old teacher died of a heart attack while riding his tandem bicycle with his wife and a 61 year old retired surgeon died of altitude sickness after climbing in the Himalayas.

For some reason, I've always been a sucker for Billy Mays. He'd get on TV and scream about Oxyclean, and I'd want some. He's yell about how AMAZING Mighty Putty is, and I'd want some.

I found that the Oxyclean doesn't work as well as Spray N Wash, but the Mighty Putty works great. I've used it to fix my rain gutters, my mailbox, and a silver menorah. PERMANENTLY!!!

Just yesterday, my husband stopped me from getting that stuff that takes the scratches off of your car. He reminded me that I don't care about the scratched on my car.

(I've also gotten the ShamWow from Vince. And the Showtime Knives from Ron Popeil. This may be a weakness in me.)

That is definitely not my experience.

Continues to be a bad week: Fred Travalena dies of cancer at 66

Maybe we should have just one thread for all this...?

What about the Slap Chop? You're going to be slapping your troubles away with Slap Chop. And apparently, you're going to love his nuts.

Check it out.

OK, want to get officially creeped out?

Yesterday I made a semi-inappropriate joke on Twitter: that all these celebrity deaths were really a viral promotion for the movie "Final Destination".

Well, what I wasn't aware of was that Billy Mays has a Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/realBillyMays

His last post, on June 27th:

quote:
Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air.
That same day, at 4:13PM, a friend on Twitter responded to him:

http://twitter.com/rfbandit/status/2364801532

quote:
@realBillyMays Hopefully this doesn't turn into a "Final Destination" scenario. That'd suck quite badly.
He was still alive when that was sent.

Are we sure this isn't something that Mighty MendIt can't fix?

An enlarged heart? Yeah, pretty sure.

On the bus today I met the craziest person I've met on the bus in... well... a week.

He was convinced - and I mean convinced without a doubt - that not only were Michael Jackson and Billy Mays MURDERED... but they were killed BY THE SAME PERSON!!!
