Friday, July 10th, (Local times and stations may vary... you can find your station here.

Obviously I can't say how I did, but I guarantee an exciting episode.

The July 10th episode was filmed back in March and I thought that July would NEVER get here..

Behind the scenes of the filming

That's cool. I'll make sure and watch.

Posted by Wonder Dog (Member # 5691) on :

Wha?! That is so very awesome. I'll be sure to watch!

(Can you give us a clue as to which contestant is you? And phrase it in the form of a question? [Big Grin] )

Wow awesome!

I've always wanted to go on Jeopardy, but I'm afraid if I ever did, I'd get the perfect storm of bad categories and embarrass myself.

I hope you did well.

Awesome!

I'll watch, but how will I know which ones is you?

PWiscombe = Peter Wiscombe - Middle podium.

Plus I'm the one who got all of the questions right in the Ender's Game category.

Posted by Xann. (Member # 11482) on :

You got an Ender's game catagory? That seem extremely lucky.

Posted by Christine (Member # 8594) on :

Oh, well, if they're asking questions about Ender's Game maybe I'd have a shot! I usually suck at trivia, though.

Posted by Samprimary (Member # 8561) on :

This is so weird. Someone on my forum got in as well.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

Posted by DaisyMae (Member # 9722) on :

Holy Cannoli! They had an Ender's Game category?

How lucky can you get?

*Leaves to program the DVR*

"I lost on Jeopardy, Baybeeee--
Oooooo, oooo"

Sorry, I was channeling a little Weird Al. Is it too late to wish you good luck?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

That's a crazy coincidence. I always thought I'd be lucky if I got like a Lord of the Rings category, but I think Ender's Game is more obscure.

Posted by Samprimary (Member # 8561) on :

When I get on jeapordy, it's going to give me the persian empire, sociology, politics, military history, Rembrandt, and computer games.

no, they'll probably give me something like History of the Dutch Royals 1666-1743

That is the coolest category ever...you should let the Card's know!

:::::edited to note that I placed a topic on the other side linking to this thread, telling kacard about it. It's far more likely to be seen by the Cards over there.::::

I'm skeptical of this whole Ender's Game category thing...

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Watch it on the 10th and see. [Big Grin]

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

I will eat my hat if there's actually an Ender's Game category.

Easy for me to say, since I don't wear hats, but still--it didn't even occur to me that pwiscombe might not be joking. I was kind of puzzled when I saw a bunch of people taking it seriously.

Posted by pwiscombe (Member # 181) on :

I was kidding about the Enders game Category...

I didn't think that anyone would take it seriously.

Sorry about that

Very cool. It's a shame I wasn't a Hatrack member when I was on The Price is Right five years ago.

Posted by Darth_Mauve (Member # 4709) on :

You know, I bet it would make a great movie, being on a game show where they give you obscure questions that coincidentally tally with obscure trivia that's played an important part in your life, perhaps in your love-life....I bet it would win an Oscar.

But seriously, is it to late to wish you luck? I mean, would we risk damaging the whole space time continuum?

LOL.

Can you wish belated good luck?

I would happily watch your Jeopardy show, if my digital converter box was working. [Roll Eyes] [Roll Eyes] [Roll Eyes]

That's a brilliant idea! I'll get right to writing the screenplay!

I think I'll base it in a third world country just to be artsy... Like Cambodia... the Oscar people will love that!

Someone beat you to it. Behold... Slumdog Price is Right

That's neat idea though -- we should make up questions for an Ender's Game category in this thread.. [Smile]

Someone in my family will be watching that day, I'm sure. They always watch Jeopardy. I'll be at work, however, [Frown]

Posted by daventor (Member # 11981) on :

Ah, dang it. I was hoping the Ender's Game category was for real. That would have absolutely pushed the episode into a "I HAVE TO SEE IT!" category.

Posted by Xann. (Member # 11482) on :

I had assumed you weren't joking because I have never seen you post before. There is alot of other people I would have been wary of saying something like that.

I also think I have to ake responsibility for the trail of believers after me. [Cry]

Posted by Nighthawk (Member # 4176) on :

Look on the bright side: imagine if there was an Ender's Game category and you got a question WRONG.

You'd never live it down around here, assuming you don't get banned as a result.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I think there'd be some sort of unofficial shunning, rather than a banning, which would require numerous acts of humiliation and graveling in order to return to our favor.

So, graveling, is that like a road building thing, or a mortification of the flesh thing?

Why don't you try both, and we'll see which one the Wisdom of Hatrack prefers?

Shouldn't that have been "Who is Peter Wiscombe"?

Just watched....you did great! But they just said next week is the kids' tournament so when do you come back?

Posted by Tara (Member # 10030) on :

Wait...Did you guess Thanksgiving or Election Day?

Posted by Belle (Member # 2314) on :

Congratulations Peter! That was awesome. Can't wait to see how far you go. [Big Grin]

We watched at our house tonight -- Great job, Peter!

Oh cool -- congratulations! (I watched but couldn't remember if the OP was male or female...Should have the whole thread more carefully!)

That was fun to watch. There was a scifi question nobody answered correctly. I wish I could remember what it was. That and the Lebanon Map question nobody could get drove me crazy. Still I bet if I went on I wouldn't be able to remember my own name. Peter answering that final Prime Minister question was awesome. Good job Peter. Can't wait to watch again in a week.

I KNEW Lebanon. But then had a brain-fart right after pushing the button.

And the most grief I am getting from anyone is from the science-fiction fans out there who can't believe that I didn't know "To Serve Man"
I had never seen that Twilight Zone Episode.

Thanks!

Peter

To Serve Man was the one I was thinking of. Still you did awesome.

Not that you didn't know it. That you haven't seen it. Go! Now! Watch!

I never actually saw "To Serve Man," but I was aware of it from this.

And my wife couldn't believe that your fellow contestant missed the daily double because she couldn't identify Albania. But my wife is Albanian, so it's probably not a fair comparison.

You did great, though. Can't wait to see it again next week.

Well, 1 out of two wins is pretty good. What does second place receive as a prize?

Posted by SenojRetep (Member # 8614) on :

It was tough luck; Stefan seemed really on with the signaling device.

FWIW I would much rather hang out with you (and the blender you got for Father's Day) than McSmarmy camp counselor with his Jeopardy theme-song bit.*

*/end pretended Jeopardy trashtalk

What are you going to do with your winnings? Do you get it as a lump sum payment?

Posted by pwiscombe (Member # 181) on :

I don't know if I get 1 check or 2. They don't send a payment until 120 days after the air date. I guess they are waiting to see if I disqualify myself by appearing on another game show.

The 2nd place person gets $2000, regardless of how they score, third place gets $1000 which basically covers your airfare, hotel, etc. (They only pay airfare if you have to come back for a second taping - they paid for my 2nd ticket.)

As far as winnings, I think most of it will go to deficit reduction / stimulus / universal health care.

I might buy myself a MacBook and let my wife use the rest for home repairs.

Posted by Steve_G (Member # 10101) on :

I have to agree with SenojRetop. Stefan was beyond annoying. I'm not sure I can stand to watch him in tonight's game.

Good job Peter, what a great experience that must have been for you.

Posted by Christine (Member # 8594) on :

I thought he was annoying too, but I didn't know if it was because he was too cocky or because he kept hitting the buzzer first when I wanted Peter to get in there. [Smile]

At any rate, good job!

I kept yelling "Haircut!" at the TV!

Posted by Speed (Member # 5162) on :

So haircut boy survives into the next season. At least it wasn't the gadabout. That guy started the episode looking all quirky like he was the starring in an indie romantic comedy opposite Zoey Deschanel, and by the beginning of the second round he looked so haggard and beaten, I almost felt sorry for him.

Did anyone see Thursday's episode? By the time they hit final jeopardy, the two new contestants were each tied with less than 1% of surfer dude's total. That had to have been some sort of record. I'm surprised Alex didn't bring it up today.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I didn't get to see it, how much did you end up winning?
