Did anyone watch? I was wondering what you all thought. Should I invest the 2 hours to watch it off my dvr?

A lot of people are comparing it to X-Files, and the comparison looks pretty obvious on the face of it. Man/Woman team working for secret government agency who go out and investigate weird happenings.
I've only ever seen the first three or four episodes of X-Files, and I was ridiculously disappointed after all the build up I'd been given. Warehouse 13 was miles above X-Files. It had comedy, mystery, fun, and a bit of intrigue. I can't say I'll watch it every week, but I liked the opener a hell of a lot better than the X-Files opener.

I got about 20 minutes in and gave up when the "quirky" character spelled out exactly which cliches the two other characters were embodying.

I didn't expect much and Raymond is right, it seriously lacks in subtley. But it's funny and watchable-ish.

For me, a show has to be pretty amazing for me to take the time to watch it. Right now, tv is a low priority (except PBS Sprout). I did watch Warehouse 13, but it just didn't seem worth the effort to watch regularly.

I only watch TV online (Hulu or nbc.com) and, yeah, a tv show either has to really grip me quick, or have Nathan Fillion, to keep me watching. I watched the first few minutes of the episode and was like, "meh." Maybe it will improve as time goes on, but I don't think I'll be investing my time in the series.

I've only seen the pilot so far - it seemed to "borrow" from a number of sources - "X-Files," for one, and "The Librarian" for another.
So far, I'm not that impressed. I think this show would have worked better with more of an ensemble cast - like "Eureka" - and with some stronger characters.
I'm going to give it at least a couple more tries, though. The DVR makes that relatively easy to do.

I readily admit that some of the stuff I enjoy on TV is pretty much garbage, so the bar's just not set very high for me. And I regularly give a show at least a second watch (just as I'll give a restaurant a second try absent food poisoning or anything). I struggled to finish the second episode, but I did it (needing to break from it twice); I don't see myself watching any more.

I like it, it is entertaining. I don;t think it is great, but I like the main characters, so I am willing to give it a try.

I thought of that, but there's also far too much about it that makes it not a rip-off. Yeah there's the big similarity, that they are hunting down artifacts, but that's really it. The circumstances and characters aren't at all similar, and even the type of stuff they're looking for isn't similar. You might as well call it an Indiana Jones rip-off.
I'm not willing to call it a rip-off if the source material only has one shared feature, and if the source itself was only seen by sixteen people, and somehow managed a sequel by what I can only imagine is the grace of God.

I haven't seen the Librarian since it first came out, but it didn't really seem all that similar to me. Noah Wylie was this geeky history buff who ran around spouting off historical facts in a mixture of Nicholas Cage from National Treasure and Indiana Jones.
I'm not sure I see the connection, but like I said, it HAS been awhile since I've seen it.

It's less that this show is ripped off from one particular show, and more that this show borrows every single element from some other show. Most procedurals at least have one trait that sticks out.

That doesn't usually bother me. When you have to name off a half dozen shows to reference all the elements that a show has, I think at that point it's become unique enough to escape charges of being a "rip-off." Plus, I think you can do that with almost any new show today.
That's not a rule that's set in stone though.

SyFy let go of both Stargate shows, and the one and only BSG, theyre scrambling for anything that may compete with Heroes when the next season rolls around.

Ehh, that's not really a complete characterization.
There's a new Stargate coming out this fall, and a new BSG universe show. BSG wasn't let go, it ended.
Warehouse 13 is a summer show that wouldn't go up against Heroes anyway. And SyFy has NEVER directly competed with Heroes. Both Stargate and BSG always aired in Fridays, and Heroes always on Mondays.

It's in the warehouse at Area 51, if you remember from Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. I just wondered if it might have been moved to Warehouse 13, after the crate it was in got shot up by the KGB.

I like it. My great fear was that that the "by the books" lady was going to be square, but it turns out that she makes the show. She is as quirky as he is, and she is quite likable. Her facial expressions and dead pan really are charming, and she has a way of walking and looking like she is tacitly taking stock everything in the room, which is right along with her character. The killer bone structure doesn't hurt. I think the first episode is the worst of the bunch.

Without a doubt. And I kinda like the new character; a good contrast to Artie.
I kinda like the show, but I watch it for the comedic aspects more than the drama.

I'm still watching. I'm reasonably interested enough to give it a shot to develop slowly. Some shows do. It's not done anything to surprise or really hook me yet, though.

The most recent episode, with that "Spiner" thing that attaches itself to the spine and makes a person a combination of electric eel and PCP-pumped warrior, reminds me of the Star Trek (original series) episode, where the colony on Deneva is attacked by deadly parasites ("Operation Annihilate!"). Or that famous Robert A. Heinlein novel, The Puppet Masters.
Too bad Brent Spiner could not have been in the episode.

Haven't seen Warehouse 13, but I had to respond to this... I really think you'd wind up liking the X-Files a lot Lyr... I'll admit most of the first half of the first season is underwhelming. But from that point to season 5 or 6, it was one of the best shows to ever grace the small screen.
My wife and I are in the process of watching the entire series (along with the movies, Millennium and The Lone Gunman) in chronological order (something I've always wanted to do - god bless Netflix) and while she was at first skeptical, it really does grow on you. And once the writers start hitting their stride, the episodes hit hard issues dealing with faith, politics and relationships (think of Mulder and Scully as a couple from the beginning - 1st season dating - and there's an entire host of poignant marital analogies throughout the series) that ring as true today as they did 15-10 years ago.
