So I was doing TaeKwonDo last Thursday, and took a couple hard hits to my left shin, about halfway between my knee and ankle. It hurt, but no biggie- it's bruised, of course, and still hurts a bit, but that's not my concern.

I looked at it in the shower just now, and my left ankle, near the arch of my foot on the inside, is BADLY bruised(dark, deep purple and red) and swollen. But it FEELS fine. There's no pain in my ankle whatsoever. I can stand on it, jump on it, hike on it, whatever. The only thing I could think is that the bruising that's still in my shin went deep enough to settle in my foot- the ankle bruising wasn't there yesterday, but the shin bruising has only gotten darker over the past few days. Am I right? Should I get this checked out?

I am no doctor, but if this were me, I would not be concerned. You got hit hard; it makes sense for there to be bruising.

In my experience (DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DOCTOR), it's not uncommon for bleeding from bruising to "settle" down, thanks to our good old friend gravity.

Probably just a bad bruise (AGAIN, NOT A DOCTOR). You can move your foot just fine, put pressure on it in all the normal ways...yeah, just a bruise.

Speaking of hard hits to the shin, you should see the lovely bruises some of our soccer players have had.

Yeah, that's what I figured it was. It was more one of those, "Ooo, hey, it's never done THAT before" than a "OMG AM I GONNA DIE" kind of question anyway. Thanks guys.

I had an ugly bruise on my bicep area, that slowly drifted down my arm almost to my elbow. Was very strange, but kinda cool.
