Hey all, I haven't been around for a while- been quite busy at school- but I was wondering if any of you could lend a helping hand.

I just got the Droid by Verizon, and although this is my first smartphone and therefore my first android phone, I'm usually pretty good at digging around menus and stuff to figure out how to do what I want. However, there's one thing in particular that I can't seem to figure out. I was wondering if there was a way to disable the green android smilies in messages when you send or receive the usual : ) or [Big Grin] etc... I've tried searching for answers on google, but it's hard to get past all the forums talking about how to disable smilies when making posts. They couldn't make a system where normal symbol smilies are automatically converted into graphic ones and not have a way to disable that, could they?

Thanks.

I'm jealous. I want that phone, but AT&T doesn't even have an Android phone at all yet.
