Sorry, I popped out for a few (5) hours for a date with a french girl... two thread deletions and I feel a little left out. Anyone care to post a cache or send it to me in a pm? Or you can just give the play by play... whatever works.

Dude. You just had a date with a french girl. Bask.

Dude, she's not Basque, she's French. [Razz]

By the time I headed out (20:00 GMT) the conversation in Blayne's thread was about the finer points of grammar. Obviously things must have picked up in my absence.

Yeah, I don't know either.
I thought the attack thread on Ace of Spades was relatively innocuous with a thrilling discussion on whether it was an attack thread.

The conversation in Blayne's thread had effectively died down too I thought.

Hehehe... "thrilling!"

Honestly, I don't know why the Ace of Spades thread was deleted. If posting links to his last 25 posts counts as an "attack", then clearly I don't understand the word "attack".

Clearly, language is subjective. One man's attack is another woman's selective indexing. I think it has to do with how much stress you put into pronouncing the "ack", but I'm no expert on such things.

Lisa: *shrug* I thought you agreed when Rakeesh noted that the thread was obviously an attack thread so Orincoro shouldn't make a big fuss over whether it was explained in the OP. If I interpreted that exchange wrong, feel free to substitute "thread perceived as attack thread" for "attack thread."

It wasn't really selective indexing. I would have left some of those items out if it was. I just went to his profile, clicked "recent posts", and grabbed every single one of his last 25 posts. The only selecting consisted of the number of posts, which I picked (a) because it's a nice round number and (b) because it started at the beginning of a month (November).

If displaying those in the aggregate makes AoS look like an idiot, that's really his own fault.

Maybe I should have been more clear. I was kind of blown away that Orincoro actually needed an explanation for what I posted. Actually, I don't think he did. He just wanted to pretend that he didn't get it.

Ok, thanks.

Heh, and I never tripped my sister when I was seven, I just put my little foot out, and if she walked into it and fell over, that was really her own fault.

I think what everyone is wondering Lisa is "Why 25? Why not 26?" [Wink]

Well, in fact, I *assumed* it was an attack, but reading one or two posts did not give me much information on what kind of an attack it was. Perhaps he had said something in a previously thread like... "I only post in the afternoons," or some such. You're self centered enough to believe that everything important to you is naturally at least clear and present to everyone else, but in this case Ace of Spades had made virtually zero impression on me, either positive or negative. That, and I tire of seeing your "self explanatory" threads which are really just bear traps for people to fall into so you can claw their eyes out.

It's more like if someone is walking down the hall punching people in the arm, and someone puts on an armband with needles sticking out so that the idiot doing the punching gets stuck. If you don't punch, you don't get stuck. If AoS were to post more than racist one liners, then my posting links to his recent posts would have been harmless.

Fine. It could have been 26. But 25 is a round number. Hell, everyone should go to his profile and look through his recent posts. He's an idiot.

I want to point out that "6" is a lot rounder than "5", which lacks a complete circle at the bottom, and furthermore, has a straight line towards the top. 0 would've been ideal (though it's more of an oval number), or maybe 8 or 88.

I find his brevity rather inspiring.

88 would have symbolic significance in addition to being round.

Why?

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

According to the wiki page:
quote:

Eighty-eight is used as code among Neo-Nazis to identify each other. H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so 88 is taken to stand for HH which in turn means Heil Hitler.

Given Ace's posts so far, seems appropriate.

You explained the joke, and now it's not as fun for me. [Frown]

Posted by Chris Bridges (Member # 1138) on :

My assumption was that any critical thread directed at another member -- especially in the thread title -- was automatically considered an attack thread.

There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions."

Eh... no not really so much, no.
